Hi all. New poster here. Question for you regarding my Electro 35 GSN. Last night I was playing with the aperture settings and timing exposures and noticed a quirk. Let me see if I can describe the problem. When I had the aperture ring at 16, the yellow light lit up, indicating underexposure. Turning the ring towards larger apertures, the yellow light went off when set at 5.8. This should indicate a shutter speed of 1/30. Rotating the ring further and firing the shutter at each larger aperture setting confirmed this. So my camera was registering the following settings:
ap 16 - underexposure
ap 11 - underexposure
ap 8 - underexposure
ap 5.8 - 1/30 shutter speed
ap 4 - 1/60
ap 2.8 - 1/125
ap 2 - 1/250
ap 1.7 - 1/500

Okay, that's all well and good. However, when I set the aperture ring at 1.7 and depress the button halfway to light up the indicator lights, the red arrow comes on indicating overexposure. Rotating the ring now towards smaller apertures I got the following settings:
ap 1.7 - overexposure
ap 2 - overexposure
ap 2.8 - overexposure
ap 4 - overexposure
ap 5.8 - 1/500
ap 8 - 1/250
ap 11 - underexposure
ap 16 - underexposure

Granted, I was messing with this in a fairly dimly lit room last night, so maybe that was screwing up the electronics, but what do you all think? Am I missing something here? Is the meter in my camera bad? My prints lately have been a bit underexposed, and I'm trying to figure out if its due to the processing, the haze filter I had on my camera, or problems with the meter.

Your thoughts would be much appreciated.
Cheers,

As GSN has a stepless shutter that can work from 1/500 until 30secs, almost any situation can be calculated right, except if the yellow arrow shows up and you have already chosen f/1.7 . Red arrow does note mean overexposure, it means: "Hey man! I have chose for you something that it slower than 1/15sec. Can you use a tripod? I am not responsible if your photo comes up blurry! ". But if you push the shutter, the exposure should be right.

I just got a GT recently apparently with exposure problem. I believe that a GT is practically the same as a GTN except without the hotshoe. Anyway, after I shot the first roll of film I discovered that only 3 frames are good, in sequence. The rest of 21 frames were already exposed. How strange! I heard that if one covers the meter window while taking the pictures, this would happen, but I don't think I did it for 21 times. Is this due to the "pad of death" or something else? Please let me know if you have any thoughts. Thanks.

Hey George, I believe in opposite - red light tells "man behind camera! I just can't do any faster than 1/500! Please stop down, or if you are already at f16, mount NDx filter; POL filter will work too - and let me know filter factor by compensating with ISO dial"
