I just picked up a Yashica Mimy S that looks to be in beautiful condition. Bought it for using and not for display. It's lovely small! And the name. Perfect for a camera 🙂

When I point it to the light the light meter moves but I have no clue for what aperture and speed it sets. Are there any way to see how accurate it will be before trying with a film? Any tips? Is it a fixed shutter speed or is it variable?

Do you have any other tips for using it? What shutter speed is used in "flash mode"?

On the aperture ring there is one setting called B. What is that? I thought it was bulb mode but on the aperture ring? If so it doesn't seems to work.

Anyone here been using it? Any tips?

Thanks in advance! Really looking forward to trying it. Just waiting to finish the roll in my Trip35 first!

The exposure is set automatically by the meter. I seem to recall reading that the Mimy has only two shutter speeds, although what they are I don't know. Butkus has a manual for the Mimy which probably contains as much information about the camera as anybody knows.

I've gotten some respons that the shutter speed in flash mode is either 1/30 or 1/60. But I guess that's the same in these circumstances 🙂 Now I just have to figure out how to read the exposure needle and see if the exposure is correct 🙂

The best way to check exposure is to simply shoot a test roll - since you're going to be doing that anyway.

If you're curious about the meter response try aiming the camera at a bright light then away from it with the back open while you work the shutter. If the aperture changes noticeably you can at least be sure the meter is setting exposure in some way.
