Yeah, I'm liking the Konica Hexar AF

i got mine for 200 euro, with accessories...that is a good price. Further, anything you pay for it is good as long as you enjoy using it. A wiseass comment maybe but i realy think it's like that.

Not exactly; not always. The center of the FOV changes with focusing, but the focus point does not move. Therefore, at closest focus it focuses a bit off center, but it's not a really big difference i would say. Never noticed its drawback.

Yes. It has double beam *active* autofocus. It can focus in pitch dark where you don't see anything in front of you. Beyond some distance it switches of course to infinity but the DOF is enough in that case.
 
@dazedgonebye - i had one for couple of weeks and ran a couple of rolls through it. i liked it so much that i decided for its big brother -- the hexar rf. i will try to answer your questions as well as i can.

350 - 400 usd seems to be the going price for a hexar af in good condition. its a very well built and sturdy camera.

fastest shutter speed is 1/250.

my depressing the shutter release you can lock focus and reframe your shot. kinda like an slr.

af is blazing fast. the entire picture taking and moving film process is so fast and quiet that its hard to even notice.

1/250 is a bit disapointing.
Are you ever able to shoot at f2? Certainly not outside even with ND filters.
Mid-roll film changing would be helpful though.

I'll have to read more.

Why is there never anyone next door to me with a camera I can try out?
 
ND8 filter works well. Mid-roll film changing is trivial. But the camera
excels in low light, 400 ASA, f2 indoors.

Steve, the 1/250s is limiting, but you don't have to use 400 speed film if you live in arizona😉
Just use iso 25, 50, 100, you have plenty of chance for wide open. And keep an ND filter around.
I have used the camera at f/2 many times - even with iso 800 or faster - not midday outside of course.

I live in the Netherlands lately. I am grateful if i have a hand-holdable shutter speed in this time of the year, outside, midday; definitely different situation than yours.

400 iso is a habit that lets me take shots inside and outside. Of course, even with 1/2000 shutter speed, I still can't get wide open outside in the daytime without a ND filter. So I guess that's a limitation I could live with.
I also tend to shoot color fim because it's such a pain to get black and white done (no time to do my own developing really). This limits me when it comes to slow film. Iso 100 rated at Iso 64 would be about right I guess.

I'm gassing for a Hexar AF now...dang.

You know, sunny 16 is about right for mid-day in the winter here. I think summers are nearer to sunny 22.
 
I have used mine for some outdoor shots and it has been fine. I really like to use it in art gallerys in my neighborhood (Chelsea,NYC). It has come through every time and is silent. I keep an ND filter with me at all times. I haven't used the AF in very cold weather since I'm not sure how well it would hold up. At least with my Contax cameras I know they can withstand cold cold weather as they have for years. I got my AF on Ebay for $370.00 + free shipping.

We are all spoiled nowadays. My Oly Pen FT does 1/500 max, and so does my Hassi.

I guess it's about the right time to put my Rhodium and my unused Titanium on eBay. Should've done that a while ago, but have been too lazy lately. 🙂
