Your Best Shot

Ywenz,

Love the portrait.

I am live in the chicago area as well. I will be so lucky to capture a photo of my wife like you did in your photo with a skyline in the background. Of course it helps that the woman in the photo is gorgeous! But my wife looks that way to me as well.

Ok, so I may be stretching the definition of "my best image" a little far 🙂
I don't scan much but I have these hanging around from a recent france trip

Nice work. I really like the stairs shot. It has an abstract simplicity with an interesting tonal range and the kind of lines that draws my eye to it and into the frame.

This is one of my all-time favorite shots. I took it through the fogged up window of the Preservation Hall in the French Quarter of New Orleans. It was Jazz at its best.

This one is also a good photo that I love. I took it in New Orleans many years ago. The man has passed away by now. He was performing great traditional Blues music with his grandson.

My third [people] favorite is the next one. I took it immediately after the first Gulf War when I was with my family in Amman (Jordan) for a while. The photo was taken inside a tent in the ruin city Petra.

this is a favourite.

shot with a canon ivsb and 28/3.5 canon lens

Joe: How do you like your Canon IVsb? I got one recently, and I am still exploring its capabilities. It took me a while to figure out how to best load it with film so I don't get it jammed.

I always thought the bedouin guy was you -- I adore the three photo, but especially the 1st one. It carries such a mood...

Max: Maybe others also think that the photo of the bedouin is me. 🙂
Actually, I once stated in a thread how I got this photo. I am glad you like the photos.

Those are some good ones, Raid. I really like the blues shot. . .that guy looks like he means it. And the Jazz club is perfect as well.

Thanks Shutterflower. I used to take good photos.

Sorry, I came a bit late to this thread. Just wanted to say that this is a really powerful picture Simon! And the yellow contrasty colour works great for it. Is this Lith printing? How does it work?
