Your Gear holy grail/silver bullet?

My holy grail of the moment (because yes, it changes regularly) is the Zeiss Ikon ZM. Honestly, I could afford one now, but not any lenses.... so I wait till I win a lottery or something.

It used to be a panoramic camera, but since I got the G617, I've got it covered, and it let me time to find a new silver bullet 🙂
This one will stay here for a while I think !

More money and time for travel
As far as gear goes have a number of like to have such as full frame digital M, 21 and 90mm lens but no real must haves,

11x14 seneca city view camera and ...

hi all,

well, like a few other folks here i have multiple gear (and non-gear) holy grail/silver bullets...

...one of mine would be an 11x14 seneca city view camera and a "portrait" focal length lens to go with it.

another would be a print/negative washer that would accommodate sizes from 11x14 to 20x24.

a non-gear one would be a apprenticeship with clyde butcher.

another non-gear one would be the talent and grace to create more images that add beauty and light and peace to the world.

laugh more, smile more.
i do whenever i walk by a mirror. 🙂

There are lots of things I "want" but, whenever I see or think about any of them, I try to remember the old saying about "It's not having what you want that matters as much as wanting what you have".

Gear wise I think for me it would be a MP and a chrome 35 Summilux FLE. I think I'd go with black paint, vulkanit, and panda style levers. 35/50/90 only. I really like the way chrome lenses look on black bodies. These are two things I will most likely never own...so that is about as holy grail as it gets! Also enough Double-X to last me a lifetime 🙂

Non-gear wise of course it would be a budget and time to travel year round and world wide with my wife.

Gear?
May the photo gods spare me down for saying this, but
I pretty much have everything I need to take the photos I like to take.
Yes there are a couple of affectations I'd like to indulge in if they fell out of the sky, (like a black Nikon SP with an S36 motor), but they wouldn't make me any better a photographer, so I don't spend any time mooning for them.
I suppose if there was anything Grail-ish I wish I had, it would be more talent. Or even some talent.

I completely understand and agree that I anything I "want" probably won't make me a better photographer. Ok, not probably - it won't, period. But that doesn't keep me from wanting to shoot with those cameras or lenses. At the end of the day, my photographs will probably look the same and I will have the same amount of talent no matter what I am using. BUT, if it makes me feel a certain way, or the feel and look of a camera/lens combo makes me happy, then I will certainly get more enjoyment out of shooting and photography in general.

Yes, I agree that more gear won't make me a better photographer. That's why we jokingly call it a holy grail/silver bullet.

I too have pretty much all the gear I need to make the photos I want to make.

But a compact (folding) 6x7 medium format wide angle RF camera with built in meter, is going to come in handy! 🙂

I'd love to give the Konica Hexar AF a whirl. Probably not much of a Holy Grail for most but something that still holds a huge amount of curiosity for me.

I had one for a while. Great lens. It would have been perfect if the method for manual focussing was a more traditional ring around the lens, as opposed to push button with an LCD readout.

In film, my holy-grail is a minion who will develop all my film backlog using my one and only one super simple Rodinal recipe.

In darkroom, my holy-grail is time.

In digital, a Nikon full-frame.

I don't need extra talent or "eye", I don't think I'd be able to live with myself if I had lots of that 😀

Sometimes you're left to simply wonder what was going through the minds of the designers aren't you? Possibly the least practical way to manually focus a camera you could get - I'd still like to try one...even though I know they're not good at focusing through windows either😀:bang:
