In the flurry of fuss over the new Sony's I am reminded of a discussion with my older daughter, when I was talking about selling a few bodies to fund an MM.

Two cameras are sacrosanct, it seems. The old one you look down into (Rolleicord) and the 'one you just take pictures with, you know that you take anywhere with you'

The latter turns out to be my MP. It isn't autofocus, doesn't have an evf. Doesn't even have a digital sensor, though it is original frame (in 35mm terms at any rate), but it (like a ZI or Bessa or any number of simple cameras without too many controls) just does what is needed.

No, I don't need a new Sony.

Your daughter is an astute observer. Interesting. I keep a book in the hall of the things my children say. That would go in the book for sure.

Your just take a picture camera

Is this a question?
Well, for me it's the same setup that's in my avatar.
R-D1 with 35 summilux.

The Yashica model 35 that's in my avatar. It's their 1st rangefinder and apparently was not offered in the US. Mine came from Australia (as was the gent pictured) and it goes everywhere.

All of my cameras are used this way... but maybe the most used recently is the pocketable Sony RX100 II.

I have a Rollei 35 that lives in my motorcycle tank bag so it goes everywhere with me ... But recently I find myself picking up an M2 with nokton 1.5 as the 'go to' camera. Simple mechanical camera for a simple mechanical photographer .

Bessa R with 50mm f/3.5 FED collapsible lens. I obtained this from DEZ recently. It is just pure simplicity without undue fuss or weight.

it is whichever camera I feel like taking with me on that day.
now a days it's the ricoh GR as it's so tiny.
when on vacation/travelling, the Xpan is the must.

For color it is an Olympus E-410 with a kit lens. Family snaps, a few vacation 'I was there' stuff......you know the type.

For carry every day, either a VF Olympus Pen or a Olympus Pen F with 1, 2, or 3 lenses, B&W only.

For everything else, what ever piece of photo gear (25~30 cameras of all types) I feel like picking up at the time. Again B&W only or sometimes paper used as a negative in the 4X5.
