Your Landscape method and kit

Park yourself in an area and wait for time of day and weather and season to be favorable. Moving around just looking for the perfect picture is unlikely to bring success.

Adams spent winters in Yosemite and was available when conditions were favorable.

Know the area. South plains means Kansas and fields ready for harvest. Be there at the right time and when the hour/weather are favorable. This means pre-scouting places. Sometimes the view needs smaller areas such as a special bridge in a Japanese garden.
 
I just got back from a driving vacation during which I used only a 77mm lens on a full-frame Pentax. I wanted to have distant items show a reasonable size and avoid the wide expansive views with tiny distant detail. Here are a couple of examples...
