Kodak Bantam Special. It's too bad Kodak didn't have Walter Dorwin Teague apply his magic to 1 the Retinas; not that the Retinas are ugly by any means, but a 35mm "Retina Special" would have rocked (& be much more useable today than the Bantam Special).
I'm a bit of a camera collector, and have recently been looking on the net as to what people think is "the" most beautiful camera. After looking at the Flickr "thread" on this I wonder what the members here would consider to be their or indeed the most beautiful camera (if they don' already possess it)? As my current particular preference tends to go towards the old simple mechanical cameras such as the Leica IIIf, I also wondered whether others had a similar view?

Not in order (I cannot pick just one):
1. Nikon SP 2005
2. Hasselblad SWC/M
3. Leica MP with Leicavit (both in chrome/silver)
4. Canon L1
1. Nikon SP 2005

4. Canon L1
I know this isn't popular to say, but I think I like my Black Paint M8.2 the best (even more so than my newly aquired M3).

Don't eXchange Freedom!
I'm fortunate to have the ones I most droll about.. (has not been easy to get them on the first place and to maintain them is much harder as well) nevertheless, my Nikon S Brass beats all of them... every time look or pick it up I feel very lucky. It's such a Lady!

For me, it would be a Nikon F2AS, black, with the MD1 and MD2 motor and battery pack and a Nikkor 105 mm combination. Although, at some point a IIIf RD ST w/ SYOOM and 5cm 1.5 would be awesome as well!

You have all mentioned some stunning cameras, I would definately agree about the BP iia I'm also partially to the black bessa T. For those who ask about the poll, well I am keeping a tally, but have yet to figure out how to post this in table form (excel type format) or another way.

Sh!t yes ... five years and two rolls of film!
Midway through the second roll something broke at the bottom of the shutter speed dial which required a trip to Youxin in the US. He repaired the shutter speed mechanism, gave the camera a CLA and sent me an email telling me he really loves Leica 1a's and this was possibly the best one he had ever seen!
And to please use it more responsibly in future!
