I didn't know Youxin could convert add M4 quick loading onto an M3. Has anyone done this and how much does he charge for it?

Lumiere do the most beautifull paint work I've seen. Maybe even nicer than Shintaro but they are sooooo expensive.

If I ever had to get an M body/lens serviced, it would be Youxin. My communications with him in previous exchanges have always instilled confidence.

He knows his Leicas, without a doubt. The IIIf with SCNOO-C is mine, and he did an awesome job.

Were you able to compare both paint jobs side-by-side ? I had a Shintaro BP SP and a Massa-BP M2 but have never seen Lumiere painted camera in real life. Just curious.

Gabor,
I managed to look at one and it was nearly!!! as nice as a new MP. I have read somewhere in the last few weeks that his paint was on the soft side though. The actual gloss/satin mix was the best I've seen. I have seen a Shintaro and the one I saw, an M4 was nice with more of a glossy look to it but then the owner may have requested that finish. At this level of workmanship I don't think you need worry which one is doing the job. As I said before if I really wanted a pristine M2 or M4 (I'm not an M3 fan) I'd get Lumiere to do it. If I was going to spend that kind of money though I'd prefer an original BP M4,

I've just checked out Lumiere's prices. Quite expensive. I'd have to buy a reasonably priced chrome body for, say, less than 100k yen in order to justify their pricing!
I really should check out Masa and Shintaro samples.
Anyway, never been to Lumiere. I believe they are in Omori, which is only less than an hour from me. So might check them out on the weekend.

Anyone know why he doesn't work on M5's or CL's? That seems odd and peaked my curiosity

John, I wonder if you're confusing Takahashi-san at Lumiere with another Takahashi-san in Tokyo who also paints cameras. Its this second Takahashi-san who is known for painting very pretty show cameras with softer paint. I have a feeling the paint jobs by Takahashi-san at Lumiere would be very similar to the paint jobs by Shintaro. Would be fun to compare them one day to find out for sure.
