Hi there

My Zeiss folder is started to develop overlapping frames and there is a little mold starting to grow inside one of the elements.

I'm in Hong Kong but wouldn't mind sending it to the best to take care of my baby?

Many thanks for your recommendation.

Very best,

P

Perhaps someone can give you actual names and/or contact methods. I was hoping those here in RFF that know how to contact Fallisphoto might chime in. He was a long time poster here in RFF, and repairs folders as well. He might be able to help. I know when he posted here he mentioned he isn't on anyone's time shedule but his own. I think he has another daytime job.

There is a leica repair specilist in HK, he can take care of this problem.
First the overlap is not the fault of the camera, it is the film especially fiju film, thin back paper and thin film base. what I do is tape a length of two film spool, tape on the lead paper, the overlap issue should be solved.

The fungus, the front element and rare element is easy to take off, do not need to disassemble the shutter and focus system. few dollars you will fix it on your own if you are handy man.

I have heard good things about Essex Camera Service in New Jersey USA and have sent my Zeiss Super Ikonta III there for some repair. Haven't gotten it back yet. Not sure if that's a help for you. http://www.essexcamera.com/

My camera had a frame overlap problem and I cut 2" long pieces of 2" wide masking tape (2"X2") and after threading the paper leader on to the take up spool and making about one turn, I put the piece of masking tape on the paper leader next to the take up spool and then wound the film on normally. It worked great. I cut a few pieces of tape and wrap them on a small pill bottle and carry it in my bag. You might just try winding the leader a couple of turns past the Start Arrow. This will wind some more layers of paper on the take up spool wich will help. Here is a link to a website that explains the frame spacing. http://www.zeisscamera.com/articles_spacing.shtml

I just got my Zeiss Super Ikonta III back from Essex Camera Repair and the film advance now works perfectly. It took less than 3 weeks including shipping time. - Jim
