Not sure how long this link is going to stay up.. I don't think the official announcement has happened yet. This points to a set of PDFs about the new lenses.

The official announcement was at Photokina, since this is a blog post from Zeiss, I'm sure the data will be there for a while. The release date according to the Zeiss rep is end of Q2.
Thanks. Missed that official announcement.

I've been thinking about getting an Xpro, now I have a reason to get a round tuit.

Hmm.. do we know the pricing for these two?
I have a 12mm CV which I can slap on the Fuji and it's "ok" but the Zeiss looks a lot nicer
Cheers,
Dave

chances of them being cheaper than the 14/2.8 and 35/1.4 are, hmmmmm, next to zero I'd sayHmm.. do we know the pricing for these two?

If Zeiss or Fuji would give us a 16 (24 efov) to pair with that 12, my defenses would crumble in an instant. As it is, this 12 paired with the eventual Fuji 23 and 56 ought to make such an awesome combination.
As for the Latin name, I have no idea what a correct pronunciation would be, but the response in the anglophone blogosphere is breathtakingly puerile.

I wonder how these lenses will compare to the fujinons which are awfully good already...

I am glad to see Zeiss expanding to different mounts, but I do not understand the choice of focal lengths - there already are Fuji lenses at the same/similar focal length.
Price? - I would expect about 50-100% more than Fuji ones.
Performance? - I expect nothing short of amazing, but let's see.

I thought I saw $1499.
That was an early listing on Australian site IIRC. Don't ask me how I remember that.

$1499 isn't "bad" for a 12mm that is meant to go on the X series cameras. It's spendy yes but if it can be your typical Zeiss lens I'm sure it'll be worth it.

Me either. If they're going to compete directly w/Fuji, it would be nice if they could get a jump on them w/a 35mm (23mm) equivalent.

My guess is Zeiss selected the focal lengths guessing the Fuji 14mm lense would be adequate, but priced such that there would be significant dependence on software corrections. Opps.
I have no idea why Zeiss didn't do a 23 mm lens to out flank Fuji.

I agree. I wonder if Zeiss and Fuji had an agreement with regards to focal lengths Zeiss can produce.

would not surprise me...zeiss had to get permission to use the x-mount, somehow...
