wonder if the offer Auto Aperture? This would be THE killer feature. I hate focusing a stopped down lens, and open/close all the time is bothersome.
I dun quite understand, if u set the live view display to on u then do not need to open/close the aperture all the time. just use actual working aperture.

I don't have a stake in this other than an interest in the A7 as a possible future purchase – it's really grown on me since the introduction.
Both the 35 and 55 AF Zeiss e mounts look brilliant from the samples I've seen. So I've had a hard time understanding the appeal of the two Loxia lenses.
But that's Sony's lens situation for you – messy.

no, because then you will not see the plane of focus, but all that is in focus. that is not sufficient for exact focus.
if you use a wider lens, it is almost impossible to precisely focus it stopped down, and it is usually not optimal with longer lenses too. I do not want to know whats in focus (or somewhat in focus), but exactly WHERE the focus plane is right now. Otherwise I'd use the stop down lever on an SLR.
