I'm ok with the new Sony ... but I really dislike anchovies!![]()
I didn't like plain butter bar [of DP] until I glued a handle to it
Sony, a company without a real history in photography, tries to get a grip on users that like cameras like this.
If makers of copiers or medical equipment can make cameras why an entertainment company can't?!?

Sony bought (Konica) Minolta a few years ago. I'd imagine a few of the employees from Minolta (a company certainly with a "real history in photography") are still around and informing current developments.

Everybody always talks about cameras as investments. Now they want interest?

(yeap, I don't like it, I'd rather that Nikon FM2 alike).
Sony IS Minolta, they are an extension of one of the most long-standing names in the photographic world, with a rich legacy and plenty of know-how.

I long ago, lost interest in newer equipment.
When i was pro, my Nikon-F system was sufficient.
I had about 7 lenses, 2 Photomic heads.
Plenty accessories.
I used it day to day. The "newer better" F2 introduced.
Many of the new bodies had problems.. so i waited.
And waited. The F3, the F4 heavy on batteries,, The F5 so
big for me, the F6-- well i hardly used film. Retired.
I do shoot film.
I added an F3, well used when my Photomic heads started playing up. Dying Swan role. That was 5 years ago.
The digital changes, the newer better cameras are a mirage.
When folks lack a true creativity, their results poor: newer equipment promises a hope. Like Heroin or marijuana hits.Think NY. Look at Saul Leiter's work..That is creative.
I mostly see recording, no scratching below surface..
I use digital.Small, compact, easy to replace.
Quality perfect for internet.
I have zero, absolute zero in adding any of these Sony
extravaganzas.I hate the EVIL finder.

The best camera is one that still works!
There seems to be a groundswell here that the equipment you take (or don't take) photos with is far more important than the actual end result ... a photograph!

If they had only kept the NEX7 form factor I'd feel differently...
I would be surpirsed if they wouldn't release other models in the near future. With/without EVF's, swivel screens etc.

My problem with Sony camera's is that there are to manny "features" and intrusive automation taking place. I tried to like them, but every time I pick one up and try use it I feel like I just picked up a Nintendo game....
Perfectly summarize my feelings towards sony cameras

I'm struggling to see the similarity between this and a Nintendo game ... it's all in your heads!

I have zero interest in this camera for a number of reasons which I'm not gonna name because it will be taken as sony bashing, which is not my intention at all. For too many years we were stuck with DSLR as the only viable digital option, and now that so many other options are rolled out I'll be the last to complain. Give me more alternative digital stuff! I want a digital Fuji GA645, Oly XA, Holga, a folder, a hexar af and any other new and weird contraption they can think of
Anything but another friggin DSLR.

I have an A7r on order, but I would be more enthusiastic if the A7 had a metal front plate and no AA filter and the A7r had pdaf and EFC.
May wait for Fuji, or the next generation Sony.

It looks like a nice combo with the 35mm zeiss, but all of the other lenses are too big as usual. I'll probably pass again.

Latest rumor is that Zeiss are planning a series of MF lenses for the mount :
http://www.mirrorlessrumors.com/zeiss-full-frame-manual-lenses-for-the-new-sony-fe-system-coming-by-end-2014/
"We are currently working on manual focus lenses for these new full-frame CSCs.
They will have an interface to provide EXIF data to the camera.
They are expected to be in stores by the end of 2014. However, we cannot provide any additional infos right now."
Guess that means Cosina ?

I love the "new" Sony. I love them for being bold and breaking new ground. I love them for being capable and reliable. I sold my digital Ms and dove straight into the Nex system!
That said, I have no interest in the 7. I am considering it the opening salvo, and I excitedly await what Fuji will be bringing to the table in response. Bet it is not going to be a hunchback!

I don't think there's much percentage in drawing the line between photography and imaging any more... and Sony knows all about imaging. Rip open your favourite name-brand DSLR and take a look at who makes the sensor.
Plus, Minolta, as others have said. And partnership of long standing with a prominent manufacturer of A-list microscopes, among other things... Zeiss.
My main beef with Sony in general is their insistence on inventing formats and expecting everyone else to adopt them (Memory Stick, anyone?). As for "prosumer" cameras, they've made some very good ones... including the DSC-R1 that lives in my home.

Not zero but low priority.
I suspect the right lens solutions will be the lenses designed for them, not my RF lenses. I already have the right solution in bodies for those lenses anyway.

Sorry, I pre-ordered...All I needed was something that would shoot a few primes and my Leica M mounts. Using some of my Canon lenses is a bonus. I'd love an M, but don't have patience for Leica's BS right now AND cost prevents me from joining that club. So, it's the Sony when I am in a digital mood or my M6/M2 when I am in a film mood.
The 35mm Zeiss, that I ordered was icing on the cake for me.
