Zero interest in the A7 or A7r - who is with me?

well thats what technology can do, take a nothing picture and make it look pretty damned good.

its such a downer reading these threads, and realising how 'unenthusiastic' are camera 'enthusiasts' whenever a new product is released. its always about putting it down, tamping enthusiasm, what it cant do, why its not better than i have now, and how real photgraphers make magic with a pinhole poked through dog poop. whats wrong with enjoying the advances of technology, looking forward to them and embracing them with 'enthusiasm'? maybe the latest isnt right for you, but how about seeing past that to why it might be right for lots of others?!

honestly, this thread should be entitlled 'im sitting in a yurt listening to my walkman and cleaning my behind with a leaf--who's with me'?

i'm tuning this out and instead venturing forth to take pictures with dog poop...

I'm with you. Didn't even want to read this thread with it's self sanctimonious title, but I might be interested in one of these cameras, so I made the mistake. Same old stuff from the same old people. But your post made it richer!

Wow, serious business going on in here. Do you guys spend a lot of time on your thread titles? It seems to me that the OP probably thought about the title for 1 second and didn't think he'd have to answer for it in a thread about a camera. Let's relax.

creating "Zero interest in X-Pro1, X-E1, X-M1, X-A1, X100, X100s, X-E2, X10, X20, etc etc - who is with me?" thread......

;)
Everyone take a deep breathe and just think, at least it's not a Pentax Q.

its no surprise when negativity begets negativity. as adults, we are entitled to assume other adults mean what they say, thats why they string a particular set of particular words together. perhaps the solution is that people actually should think before they speak.

rbelyell, do you only post perfectly prepared threads and responses? I think we are making a big deal over nothing here.

What a shame it has one of those idiot mode dials instead of a shutter speed dial. And I'll bet the mode dial does not even have a lock, so it can get changed accidentally. Double-idiot mode dial.

Personally, I hardly ever change the shooting mode so the convenience of a real physical dial is wasted on me.

Whereas I constantly change the shutter speed. Would have much preferred a shutter speed dial on the top deck.

Sony seems very inconsistent on this. The NEX 7 and 5r have dials that you can configure but the 6 has the idiot mode dial. I don't get their thinking.

Since I already have other FF camera, this is not something I'll be acquiring.

I'm perfectly happy with the NEX6. I'm uneasy with Sony's rapid release of new 'devices'. Their customer care and warranty service is questionable (see caveat emptor thread).

Apart from the odd iPhone snap, I only shoot film, so I'm not going to be in the market for this camera. I am, however, very interested in it from a technology standpoint. My girlfriend shoots a NEX5 which I am very impressed with.

I hope the rumors of a Pentax LX like short flange FF camera come to true.
The LX was a superb camera; the finest mechanical - electronic hybrid ever.
Ricoh have also demonstrated their understanding of Leica lenses with the GRX M-mount; which had offset micro lenses.
If they can adopt this in a EVIL camera, they would be able to make lenses smaller than the really quite large lenses Zeiss is designing for Sony i.e. small = competitive advantage.
Putting the two together to create a FF short-K mount that could be adapted to M lenses or PK lenses would be a winner.

I read this and just felt ill, I recently purchased 3 LX's all of them suffering faults like slow shutter speed timing, that notorious mirror rubber bumper deteriorating (sticky mirror), electronics failure :bang:

But I do fully understand what you were getting at :) I'd love to see Pentax come out with something like that.

I'm pretty sure there was a TON of demand for it. People hate Sony menus and for some reason want the mode dial on the cameras (it's like 3 damn actions to switch it in menus... lol)... I agree with you, its a waste. I think Tri-Navi for me was fantastic... going with that + the wheel in the front grip would of been imo the better way to do things.. but aside from the a7/r being a bit ugly I can't wait to get mine in my hand.

I can't wait to get mine in my hand.

Isn't that the Nikon DF tease? lol

but, as red-blooded male not always patient for courting rituals, I agree.

Funny thing is, I've been moaning and clamoring for FF nex, with some functionality for RF glass since 2010, and all I got for the most part: dream on, nobody cares about RF glass. No market, etc.

Now there is not a board where RF glass and the e-mount or some other soon to be made short flange are not mentioned longingly.

So to all those who pissed on my crusade: Ha! I hope these threads drive you mad!

It still has the Tri-Navi a slightly modified way. The front dial and the back dial of the A7/A7R are equivalent to the two top dials of Tri-Navi on NEX-7, and the back vertical wheel has the same role in both cameras. Think of it like that, with the addition of a model dial and a exposure compensation dial. It is more pleasant to view it that way :)

In a way you can say the A7/A7R has five distinct dials compared to the four in a Prosumer DSLR.

As much as you'll hate me saying it... the few hundred complainers about RF glass are not Sony's main concern. Their main concern is people buying Zeiss glass.

Adaption is a + for them, but not their focus.

The only time it'll ever be the focus for anyone is if their lenses are RF lenses to begin with... or they only want to cater to people who own old RF glass... in which they'll sell an extremely small amount of bodies.

Dear Josh,

Yes, but possibly to quite vocal/influential buyers.

Cheers,

R.

why then did sony make a point of saying at the cameras's announcement that the 7R had a microlens array that was optimized for use with legacy glass?

Wouldn't the increased flange distance of non 4/3 lenses more or less negate the need for a 'telecentric' lens? or am I missing something? I had no idea they could cover full frame at the 4/3 flange distance. Or is it software fixes either way?
