Does anyone have the address of where Ziess Ikon's are being sent for the Manufacturer's Warranty? Mine appears to have died. I cock the shutter, and it will not fire. I have tried 2 sets of batteries and it still will not fire. The shutter speed does not appear in the viewfinder either. I would like to send it to Japan or wherever it's supposed to be shipped to. It is only two months old.

Call Richard Schleuning at 973 226 7387.
He is the Zeiss representative in the US.
His address is
Carl Zeiss MicroImaging, Inc.

Hasselblad in New Jersey is handling all repairs - both warranteed & non-warranteed.

BTW, I assume you've turned the switch on & taken the lens cap off?

this may sound strange but you did open and close the film back by any chance?

I have had one or two strange occasions in which the camera would not advance the film or fire the shutter until I closed the camera back and opened it up again. This only happened when I was loading film though.

Maybe the drop it took, did more to it than mis-align the rangefinder.

Yes, I have opened the film door several times. I have tried 3 fresh sets of batteries, and I have turned the camera on and off several times---I get nothing.

It came back from DAG with the rangefinder aligned but died on the 27th frame of the 1st roll.

I did hear back from Richard Schleuning, and I'm sending him the camera. I will probably have to pay to have it repaired, or I will try to work out some other deal. If the price to fix it is too costly, I will probably give it away or donate it.

I've had it for 2 months and I've only used it a few times. For now, I'm shopping for a new Rangefinder.

To be optimistic it could be just some loose soldering of the electric wires due to the drop and should be easy and cheap to rectify.

That would be lovely, but with the luck I've been having lately, it's not likely. My tread mill just broke today--meaning the tread seperated right down the middle, so it's back out in the cold every morning for me ;-)

Sorry if this is off-topic, but it is in regards to Zeiss warranty.

I just purchase a Zeiss lens myself and have two quick questions regarding the warranty cards. With my Nikkors, I would have to send the warranty card within a certain amount of time to qualify. But with Zeiss, do I hang on to it until I turn it in for any warranty repairs? The Zeiss warranty card also requires that the retailer signs the card, however I bought it from B&H. Do I have to send it back to B&H?

Hi Joebt and ijohnnyz!

Had a problem with my 35mm Biogon lens and sent an email to Richard Schleuning, the Zeiss Rep in New York. He emailed me back promptly and said to send in the lens, all the paperwork and a copy of the sales receipt. Two weeks later I received a brand new replacement lens with a sincere apology for the problem (Took 1 week for shipping by UPS). He said the lens would have to go back to Japan and would take many months and hoped the new replacement was acceptable.

Fantastic service on his part. Just like being a member of CPS (Canon Professional Service.)

Good-luck with your repairs.
