ZM CLA recommendation please....

Could someone with experience please recommend a company to do a CLA on a ZM 85mm f4.

Tom: it may help if you say what is wrong with your lens that you want a "CLA". Typically there is nothing to clean and nothing to adjust. And the lubrication should last for a decade at least.

It would also be helpful if you told everyone where you are.

Have you considered just finding out where the local pros get their gear serviced? There very well may be a local independent person that could quickly solve whatever problem you have. These guys normally do not advertise but stay under the radar screen and only work by word of mouth.

KEH told me today that the ZM 85 f4 I bought on ebay and was submitting to them had "debris" inside even though the outside looked "as new." I asked them to return the lens. When I got it I did not do a "flashlight" inspection, simply held it up to the light. Evidently a mistake on my part.

I'm assuming that the "debris" is not fungus or KEH would have said that. But it must be a good deal more noticeable than simple dust. I'll examine it closely when FedEx delivers it on Friday.

So, no: it's the cleaning part of a CLA that I need. I live in Walla Walla, WA 200 miles from either Seattle or Portland.

If anyone has experience with someone in Seattle or Portland, please pass that along. Otherwise, I simply need a reliable reference for what should be a quick cleaning job.

Tom Davis: My friend and local camera repair guru here in Central FL, suggests:

Ron Sinnott at Camera Care in Spokane
Camera Craft in Seattle (cannot remember the guy's name)
Pro Camera in Coeur d'Alene Idaho
He says his buddy in Walla Walla retired and moved away.

Lastly, he asked if you were one of those who though dis-assembly, cleaning and reassembly was quick and easy. I told him that I did not know. Good luck!
