I hollowed out the tab portion of one of the Heavystar ones, and it fits perfectly on my 35/2.8 Biogon-C... and matches perfectly the feel of my 50/2 Summicron-M. Joy.
the small cv lenses have the focussing lever so the area that they are in can be very narrow.
i could shave the sides of the tab but it would likely look like crap by the time that i am done with it. (not very handy)
Interesting thread Phil, and a little bit of genius. I may consider tabbing my Canon 35mm f2, and wonder do you have any pics of the tab on your own one,
No photos up right now. There is a photo I took of it somewhere, I'll try to post it if I find it.
I sold that lens a while back when I got my 35mm UC Hexanon.
What I did was to cut out a little rectangle of 3/16" plexiglass and then began to sculpt in a little notch for the scalloping on the Canon lens to fit into. It took a while but worked really well after I was done. If you had more patience than I do, you could use a coarse file for the rough shaping. I prefer the Dremel tool and even with that it still took about a half hour to get it fit right.
PERFECT. I've been wanting to add a tab to one of my lenses and this will work great. I was contemplating making one of my own and then CNCing it from aluminum, but this is less work and cheaper 🙂
PS. Does anyone have any photos of their lenses with the tab added? Curious to see how it looks.
