I bought a semi-working Zorki-4K a fortnight ago, and am now repairing it. I intend to give it to a friend when I'm done.

Everything is great so far. RF is aligned and cleaned, film advance is smoothened out... The only problem I have is the shutter. I am currently re-tensioning them via the two screws on the bottom of the casting.

Where the two curtains meet, there are the two metal bars. Normally, I would expect them to align parallel. However, in this case, the right curtain is slanted. The lower portion of the curtain also appears slack.

Forgive my poor ASCII art, but it would look like this when halfway cocked:

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
.........| |\ \..........
.........| |.\ \.........
.........| |..\ \........
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

I guess it's best I post a photo, and I'll do so as soon as I can find the darned CF card reader.

Has anyone encountered this before? How may one fix this? Thanks!

it looks like the bottom 2nd curtain ribbon has stretched or is loose or has become unglued
from the roller.
