Okay so I took out my Zorki 4K, without film loaded I wound on and fired 3-4 times until now the shutter doesn't fire at all. The winder winds on as normal and then stops. Pressing the button does not fire the shutter, but then the winder winds on again.
So can anyone tell me what the problem might be? It's a shame to have to bin it as it's a nice example.

After you pressed down on the shutter, did it come back up? If it didn't, you may have locked down the shutter. Just push down on it with your finger and turn it clockwise (or anti) till it pops up again.

I thought about that but the button does come up. the camera was working fine up until this happened. I don't have a clue what I've done to it.

The Zorki-4 sample I have has a collar around the shutter release button with three positions (left to right):

- 'rewind', makred with cyrillic 'P'
- 'shooting', marked with a dot
- 'delay/hold', maked with cyrillic 'D'

The latter I think is used with the B shutter setting, to spare the user from holding the button during the long exposures. Not sure how it is on 4k, but it could be producing the behaviour you described.

Sorry guys but you're nowhere near to solving this for me. Get your thinking caps on again. I'm sure some of you here have dismantled a Zorki to do your own cures to shutter problems so get thinking. It's gt me baffled. One minute working ok, the next zilch!
