Zorki 6 film pressure plate

I was showing my new Zorki 6 to my wife this evening and pointing out how it was the only FSU RF with a hinged back. When I opened it up to demonstrate, the film pressure plate fell out. I put it back in place and saw that it really wasn't held there by anything. Is this normal? Seems kind of odd....

It certainly does. The presser plate is rivetted to piece of flat spring in an H shape. Each arm ends in a fork and these engage behind mushroom studs in the door. I have never had it fall out in forty years and I can't see how it can fail. It would need a lot of abuse.

Nah, she knows I'm nuts. 😀

Nickfed: That's how mine is made, but it doesn't seem to want to stay in the rivets. So far, it's only fallen out once, but it's definitely something I'll have to keep an eye on.

I suspect the spring has been distorted. You can probably bend it so the the forks ends stay in place.

The "Drug" also has a hinged back.

As for the pressure plate I'd say a tweak of the plates legs will sort out your problem as Nickfed mentioned.
