Check this Leica Set!

What upsets me is that it ends up at Arsenal. I bought something from them once (just a filter) - came to me in much worse condition than described, and about a month late.

Beautiful camera, sold through cowboys.
 
I get the feeling this is some kind of moderate scam using salgados name, looks like he auctioned it in 2007 and photo-arsenal took possession of it and is now using salgados letter to try and squeeze more money out of people.


Yup I was correct, it is a bit of a scam....salgado auctioned off that camera to a thai collector

Photo Arsenal does have the goods but I for one don't like dealing with them. I bought an expensive lens from them once which was worth the price but just too much hassle.

edit. i take back words. I saw that is 50 ones. so it might be cheap trick to use that picture of salgado. who knows.

Yeah, all i was trying to say is that some people might think that this is actually from salgado directly, and thus helping to plant the trees, since that's what the jist of the salgado letter is about.

I agree, Raid. I'd even go so far as to say that 5000 is too high a price. I've never spent more than $2000 (for a Mamiya 645 Super with prism, back, and 80/1.9 lens bought when I was in high school). That camera is still woth me and still used regularly. Sold a lot of photos from it and from several much less costly film cameras. I have not seen any camera (outside of large format 4x5 or larger) that exceeds the image quality of a Hasselblad 500C (or its newer versions like the 501CM) and Zeiss lens, and even that combo cost far less than $5000 when it was still being made. Digital backs for medium format costs far more than that, but they really do give superior image quality that exceeds anything that any 35mm cameras (Leica included!) can give.
 
I bought a new leica screw mount 50 summicron-m asph from them, screwed up the payment and actually ended up paying them twice. Finally paid them a third time in HK currency. They refunded my extra payments promptly and I got the lens quickly, packed professionally, and as described.
