It's loaded with supermarket film (Fuji ISO 200), and I've done a few takes using my MR4 and memory (settings like ISO 400, but one stop of compensation).

This is it. I won't bother more people with my antics and will go for a short walk.

I feel a traveling M4-2 project coming on soon, neh, Francisco? 😛 😛

PS: That is one awesome lens. I have used enough SLR Hexanon AR lenses to know that the RF one must be just as special.

Oddly enough, Will, I do like the red Leica dots. In fact, I was considering a Leica M4-P, which does have a red dot instead of the self-timer, but this one, with a more Spartan look, came up first.

Actually, when it comes to "accesories", Ken, I have a black MR meter. Two years ago, it almost fell on my lap for a little over $100. Don't ask me why, but I really like these Leica meters. I got an M3 after my first (silver) MR, and with a black one I really HAD to get a black M4-2 or M4-P. As for price paid, Cirque, believe it or not, but after the dust settles it'll be about $500. The eBay seller was offering this camera and a Tele-Elmarit 90mm for sale for <gasp> $950... or Best Offer. We bargained, and he let it go for $860 (that's with shipping). I've been on the lookout for one of these ancillary M4s for years, and finally my patience paid dividends.

One thing: I never thought I wouldn't miss the metering in the viewfinder.

The nice thing about the red dot on the M4-P is that it usually disappears below your right palm when you use the camera. Then it looks like just a small black camera with a small lens 🙂

I agree with you, black M-bodies are just awesome.
 
Gentlemen, the viewfinder is not hazy. You're just looking at light reflected on the surface. If anything, it was rather dusty when I photographed the camera, but it's not hazy.

Actually, the fact that the 35mm framelines seem so wide makes me wonder if this VF has a 0.72 magnification. The lines seem wider than in my M6TTL bodies.
 
Sorry, I don´t agree. M4-2/M4-P bodies are more prone to this. This problem has been well-documented. Leica has gone so far as to create a special cleaning solution to temporarily get rid of the problem - ask Sherry. The only permanent solution is to replace the rangefinder. All the bodies that I have seen at dealers had to be previously cleaned by a repairman.
