I am pretty sure because if i remember correctly, the 1.2 was not a hot lens at all back then but for some reason, the price went up all of a sudden in last 3,4 months. People were going nuts.![]()
The Canons are skyrocketing and the Noctilux dropping. Who could have foreseen it?

That is a great price, if it is not infected with fungus or separation. It is a very good lens, but massive. I don't have a Canon 1.2, but the 0,95 improves quickly when stopping down.

Leave it to the collectors, the ONLY point of buying such a fast lens is to use it at these apertures. This is what I did in the late 70's for Astrophotography, photographing meteor trails against star fields. Its aberations, mainly coma, made it next to useless for the purpose.
I sold mine for double what I paid for it, and later bought the far better f1.4.
A friends f1.2 was not much use either.
Bizarrely the acknowleged best lens for the astro purpose in the meteor section of the BAA at the time was the Russian Helios 58mm f2!! It gave a flat sharp field wide open. There was the odd dud, but in the main they were excellent.
I sold my f.0.95 and the Canon Mirror Box, to a "collector" for a sum which later bought me a brand new Pentax LX with a fancy finder system and a f1.2 Pentax lens.![]()

I will agree-- foolish NOT to buy the 0.95 with M mount for $700. This is, of course, assuming the lens is in decent shape. (This is a good price even if it is not perfect.)
I have the lens in Canon 7 mount, and it is beautiful. Yes, it is big and heavy, and I doubt you will carry it around all the time. I also have the 50mm 1.2, and it is much more compact, although still a large piece of glass.
Buy the lens, and drink Milwaukee's Finest for a month. Wait a minute, you're in Amsterdam! Never mind....

i just looked at some of your flickr pics, and i'm revising my recommendation:
get the f/0.95. you'll have a blast!
and, if you decide it isn't for you, there are quite a lot of us drooling for one and you'll be able to sell it in a flash. (remember, i'm only a train ride away

I will, why not? I have the 0.95 ASPH on order and I have the current Nocti and the Canon 50mm f/1.2. I think no one will actually buy because it is complete with hood, B+W filter etc. It just cost too much
Oh well.....

Of course you wouldn't use thie 0.95 for Astrophotography! It is the KomaKing! But for general, lowlight purposes, it can be great!
For wide field 1.7 or even 2.8 is fine these days!
Here is the KomaKing in action:

There was one with a scratched up rear element that went for over $500 - in Canon mount a day or two ago. That was very high I thought.
