Summar or collapsible chron. Both tend to be soft wide open. Depends on how clean the lens is regarding that Leica glow (flare) thing. I've never quite understood that part.
I think Bill is correct: choice of film and developer also makes a difference. There is a photographer who posts a lot on flickr named Stephane Marco, who is achieving a classic look using Tri-X and older lenses like the Elmar 50/3.5 and Summar. Not sure he is a member here.
