The guy should not be making threats. And taking the law into his own hands. That is called the "law of the jungle".

I think "jack palmer" didn't get that it was a scam after all, and not because it was not shipped via UPS.
This is a very common scam also with electronics dealers. They for example offer a Canon 5D for a very low price, you order it. They then offer you overoverpriced accessories. You don't want them? Oh ok the item is not in stock anymore... but we can offer you a 30D instead, and this one this time has a slightly higher price than on the regular market...
I'm with the OP, I've heard about a story where someone got scammed, but he knew a local police officer who lived where the scammer lived. He asked for a favor and the scammer apologized the next day and sent the missing item. As you have his address I wouldn't let him get away with this. It's just too stupid.

I get that it was a scam??? Didn't I say the guy was a scammer and an idiot. An idiot for sending a repalcement camera with the same serial number as the one that was suppose to have been lost or stolen. I think the OP has a right to be angry and upset and how he deals withit is up to him. everyone reacts differently. But to accuse him of whinning and makng threats and make fun by saying "learn me" is just to rub salt in the wound.

Sorry jack I'm stupid.
Just reread and I wanted to address "Gregory" with that. I've somehow read his message in your quoted posting and somehow misread the nicks.
sorry for that
So what I wanted to say is that "Nikkor AIS" didn't get that it was a scam and a insured shipping would have helped no one, or is FEDEX checking the content of the packages?
I would be angry if that happened to me as well and this would be place I'd run to. Just ignore the thread if you don't like what's being discussed here.

No offence taken here. There are things that I would feel like doing to a scammer like this and most aren't legal. Although I may never do any of them I might like to voice a few of my ideas just to make me feel better, much like the OP.

It's funny, I shipped a lens to KEH a couple of months ago. I used UPS and had the lens insured since it was worth several thousand dollars. And yes, they did check the contents of the package because they packed it. Part of them insuring it is that they see what goes in and what condition it is in when it goes in. So again, I'm still waiting to get learned. Secondly, venting is fine but the RangeFinderForum is not a place to make threats even if you are now backpeddling. It's a public forum. Again I say, where is a moderator?

Looks similar to

In those cases (3 European buyers, all payed with bank transfer to Italy, same seller) refunds were given after contacting the police in Italy.
That being said, Tori Amos (for the lack of another first name; you are in good company with Seal being a member, too
), sorry for the trouble and welcome to the forum. Hope you'll post some Summicron pics someday soon.

I think the OP handled it very well with much restrain and composure, despite his verbal threats . Reading his personality, I doubt he will fly over and beat him up. If it was me, I don't think I would handled it so well. Please becareful buying high price items here or anywhere else for that matter, common sense rules.

Thank you all for posting - even those who dont agree with my way of reacting to this situation
I agree that you (generally) shoudnt make treats to hurt some one. But think about this - you are walking down the road. You have 1100 Euro in your pocket. Someone tries to steal it. Would you let him? Or would you try to stop him - using force if you had to?
In my case I truly belive that the camera wouldnt have get here at all if I had not made my treaths. And this was before I was sure about that the seller was a scammer. Im no sure of this, AND he still owes me a Summicron. This Summicron will eventually be mine, no doubt about this.
The scammer hasnt replied to my email. If anyone wonder who is the scammer, pls send me an PM and I will give up the Nick, Name and adresse of this scammer.
Moderators are most welcome to correct me if I am doing something that is against the forum laws.

This is interesting... I had an issue with the transaction with him dating back to December as well. Refer to this thread.
http://www.rangefinderforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=84044
The summary of it is that he had some personal issues and couldn't contact me for a month regarding the status of the item. I got it in the end though. Now I'm not sure what to make of this guy... I got a lot of help from the forumers though
*edit, I just noticed OP posted the same thread.

Hmmm, let me se what we know about this Fabrizio:
1) I wire money for a Leica M6 and a Summicron.
2) The package is empty
3) He claims that the postal service has stolen it
4) I go bananas
5) He offer to "buy me a new M6"
6) The M6 is delivered - and as it happens, it has the same serial number as the M6 which are "stolen."
He is a liar, and a thief -with low skills.
