In addition to the digital output posted earlier, I am going to develop my 120 negatives tomorrow. Not sure if I still have time to make prints fast enough to bring with me for the meet up this weekend. For shooting around the staging area early, the SWC and my Leica M + 50mm Lux seem to be the right combo for me. However, parade contestants seem to give favors, more eye contact to photogs with big DSRL with big flash in broad daylight. And, those guys are likely to jump in front of you and block your view. One of the girls in the Blue Lady group was giving out business cards and ask photogs to send them back pictures. She hesitated when she saw my rangefinder. Rangefinder shooters no longer have the series photogs appearance any more, I guess. Next year, I need a styrofoam DSLR to catch their attention, then pull my rangerfinder for real photographs. Alternatively, I would suggest we need a bigger group to combat the DSLR groups next year.
I left at 1:30 pm, before the parade began, due to prior commitment. Now that I have seen it in action, I may change a few things to bring next time and budget more time for a fun shot out.
There were a few rangerfinder guys wandered around and we conversed. I did invite them to come join our monthly meeting up. One guy was funny, he stopped Cal and me in the middle of the street and wanted to take pictures of us.
Cal - I tried to google the official definition of my new title "gear whore" at work. The PC in my company came back with a warning message "You have attempted to reach a site on the Internet to which access has been blocked. Access to web sites of this nature violates the firm's standards regarding appropriate usage of the Internet ... " So, you not only called me a "whore" ... I almost get fired because of that too. THANKS for that!
