I love the symmetry, architecture, and minimal colors of this photo.
Thanks, I thought the same when I was photographing it.
About the photo of the weeds and garage window: I mowed them a few days ago, but they'll grow back fast again, they always do!

Polaroid photograph of a house on Lynn Avenue, between Carew Street and Rolston Street, in Fort Wayne, Indiana. There is a sign in front of the house next to the porch that says "Stand For God, Constitution, USA."
This is next door to the house with the anti-abortion sign and big cross in the front yard.

Polaroid snapshot of an overstuffed leather chair left out by the road for the trash pickup in front of a house on Tyrone Road in my neighborhood in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
I photographed it in the early morning shortly after sunrise. A narrow beam of sunlight illuminated the chair, leaving most of the surrounding landscape in shadow.

A Polaroid snapshot of a 1955 Chevrolet sedan sitting in front of a business on Lower Huntington Road in the Waynedale area of Fort Wayne, Indiana.
Waynedale was once an independent small town. In 1957, it was annexed by the city of Fort Wayne, but it still looks like a small town and still retains a small town culture. There are a lot of locally owned businesses here. Lower Huntington Road was and still is Waynedale's "Main Street."

Polaroid photograph of a house on Lynn Avenue, between Carew Street and Rolston Street, in Fort Wayne, Indiana. There is a huge wooden cross in the front yard, which has several smaller crosses attached to it. An American flag flies from the house and there is a sign in the yard that says "Pray To End Abortion."

Polaroid photograph of the demolition of Saint Joseph Hospital on the corner of Broadway and Main Street in downtown Fort Wayne, Indiana. This is the back side of the hospital, facing west toward Van Buren Street.
Founded in 1869, Saint Joseph Hospital was the oldest hospital in Fort Wayne. It closed in November, 2021 and demolition began in 2022. This is the front of the hospital, facing Broadway. You can see on the front of the facade, near the left side, the outline of the sculpture of Saint Joseph that once adorned the building and the steel brackets that held it in place.
Originally a Roman Catholic hospital, Saint Joseph was sold years ago to a big for-profit company that also owns Lutheran Hospital and Dupont Hospital in Fort Wayne. The company built a new, much smaller hospital one block over on the corner of Main Street and Van Buren Street to replace the aging Saint Joseph Hospital. The Saint Joseph name was not kept; the new hospital is called "Lutheran Downtown."

Polaroid photograph of a red two-seat "Motel Chair" glider swing. This was sitting in front of the white house in the middle of the small trailer park across the street from my house in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
Everything looks to be in disarray because they were still cleaning up damage and debris from the bad storm that hit this part of the city on June 13, 2022. You can see the trailer and storage shed in the background that were damaged by the storm. The shed was partially knocked down by the high winds, leaving just one wall standing.
I made this photograph in the evening. It is the second photograph that I made of this glider; the first one was early in the morning on the same day.
I've always loved these colorful old-style metal chairs. They're commonly called Motel Chairs because in the 1950s, motels had them sitting in front of the rooms for guests to sit on outside. My grandparents had a pair of them that were older than I am. They are usually individual chairs, but these two-seat glider swings were popular too. This one is actually a modern one; they're still being manufactured by several companies.

My brothers still have the two-seat motel glider my parents bought in the early 60s. It’s rusted from the original yellow, but not too badly, here in the high desert of NM.

Here in Indiana, they rust a lot faster since it rains here frequently. My grandparents had a set of them that were very old. I'm not sure how old; I got varying dates when I asked about them. Sometimes they said the 1950s, sometimes they said the 1940s. They changed colors a lot when I was a kid. Yellow, red, green, blue, then back to yellow.

Grandpa's meanass cat, Molly, on his chairs in the late 1990s. She murdered 5-10 small animals a day, and is known to have killed two RATTLESNAKES. She lived nearly 20 years.

Yow! Those are pretty big shoes to fill. Sneaky has some work cut out for him if he ever hopes to match that record!

Yeah, she was meaner than Hell. Grandpa had a big dog, and Molly would jump on top of his cage and reach down through the bars to claw his face up! She was nicer to the dog (not friendly, but less violent) when he wasn't in the cage, but when he was in there and couldn't flee or fight back, she would take advantage of the opportunity.

Big dog!
She LOVED me though and would sit on my lap and purr whenever I visited. She's get pissed if I showed any kindness to the dog or (especially) grandpa's other cat, Mittens. I gave the dog a piece of meat one day, and Molly sat on the floor in front of me with her back turned the rest of the time I was there. Another time, she gave me the silent treatment like that for SIX WEEKS because Mittens jumped on my lap and curled up. To me, it looked like Mittens was sleeping, but my grandma said she was awake and was glaring at Molly with a "F--K off, B-TCH! I'm stealing your human!" look on her face.

Mittens. She got tired of being ignored by me and jumped in my lap to piss off her archrival, Molly. The two cats fought all the time. Molly was so mean that no other animal dared stand up to her!

Polaroid photograph of two closed pink flowers on one of the Rose of Sharon bushes that grow in my front yard. I photographed them very early in the morning, before they had opened for the day. Rose of Sharon flowers close up at night and reopen in the morning.
My grandmother, Stella Westerfield, planted these many years ago. My son bought the house after my grandma died.

An abstract Polaroid photograph of the morning sky over rural Allen County, Indiana. I was looking south from the parking lot of Fairview Church of God on Yoder Road, just west of Smith Road, about two miles west of the town of Yoder. The cloud looks like a face!
This is the third of four abstract Polaroids that I made of the sky that morning.
For several years, I have been doing abstract images of the sky and clouds in Indiana, so I decided to experiment with doing abstracts on Polaroid.

Polaroid snapshot of an old chair left out by the road for the trash pickup in front of my house in Fort Wayne, Indiana. This chair belonged to my grandfather, John Westerfield. When my son and I moved into my grandparents' old house, we put this chair in the garage. The chair was damaged by water when the back part of the garage roof was torn off by the big storm that hit the area in June, 2022.
I photographed it in the evening shortly before sunset. Not long after I photographed it, some people in a tiny car stopped and grabbed it! It wouldn't fit in their little car's trunk, so it was hanging out the back; and as soon as they drove off, it fell out on the street!

A skeleton sitting on a chair in the front yard of a house on Sandpoint Road between Woodheath Avenue and Kyle Road in my neighborhood in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He is holding a sign that says: "Warning, We Are Coming."
The owners of the house told me that it is the beginning of their planned Halloween decorations. They plan to add more skeletons and other Halloween items every week until the holiday.
Last year, they had a large display of Christmas lights and decorations filling the front yard.

Early this morning, I photographed this lone flower on one of the tall Rose of Sharon bushes that grow next to my driveway. As I was photographing it, a black ant crawled out onto the flower and stood upright!
These bushes were planted many years ago by my grandmother, back when this was my grandparents' house.

Polaroid photograph of a little kids' toy jeep with no wheels sitting on the side of the road in front of a house on Sandpoint Road in my neighborhood in Fort Wayne, Indiana. This is one of those kiddie cars made for children to ride in, powered by their feet like in The Flintstones.
I photographed this early in the morning before it was picked up by the garbage men.
