What have you just BOUGHT?

This week I bought 8x Kodak gold ultra 400asa 110 films, expired between 2003 and 2006. I now officially have more 110 film than I have space for as some have had to go in my 120 film box. Well, they call it 400asa but they have the long tabs of the "slow" films and with that tab my camera gives the same readings as a Lomo Orca 100 film. so I have to say "??" I've decided to take the tab off the first film I've put in and will be taking two pics of everything, one at "-/+0" and one at "+1", just to see what happens.
 
I wanted an enlarger that could handle 6x9 negs, but didn't want to spend a lot of money. I found an old Federal enlarger online, and spent a night completely disassembling it and cleaning it to get all the dust out.

It has a diffusion screen and a condenser lens, so works fine with a regular modern LED bulb in it.

This infrared converted Panasonic S1 popped up on KEH's ebay outlet store listed as: 'This item is in pristine condition. It is fully functional and has no cosmetic wear." Given KEH's ratings it should be in excellent shape. Will know more when it arrives. This will replace my full spectrum X100 that I shoot with an IR Chrome filter.

I confirmed with Kolari that they modded this S1 with a 665nm filter and the optional AR/Smudge coating. I can use lens filters when I want to go deeper into IR.

This will pair extremely well with my S1R as the control layout/software should be identical between them. My old combo of a A7RII and A7II (IR) were just different enough to drive me a little crazy.
 
The Panasonic did arrive and externally is in great shape. It does have a hair? and a few spots in the EVF which is 'interesting.' At first I thought it was on the sensor but it isn't in pics or on the rear LCD. Not sure what I will do about that yet. Tomorrow I will be testing what L mount lenses I have work in IR and at what wavelengths.

Also, second time is a charm for a Bronica EC film back. This arrived and looks like it is basically brand new and barely or never used.

Why ec instead ec tl?
 
Well, not really a "just" bought but more of a just started using it. I bought this lens recently from National Camera Exchange for a pittance but never got around to taking it seriously until the other day.

Some background: From around 1973/74 until 1991 I owned and used frequently a Nikkor-H 85/1.8 lens. It was a magic lens. It was sharper and had better contrast than the 90mm Summicron I also owned and used on an M4-P at the tiime. It was virtually indestructible although I had to retighten the front element numerous times. Working at a daily newspaper, I raised the head on the Leitz enlargers in the photo lab and blew up many a negative to crop the center portion of sports and news events shot in impossible light conditions at a long distance. The enlarged image held up well every time. I've owned several 85mm lenses since then--the f/1.8s from Canon and Nikkor AF-D and the current G series as well as the lovely 85/1.4 AF-D. None ever approached my memories of that old pre-AI Nikkor-H and the photos I took with it over the years. I thought my memories must have been personal fantasy. But maybe not. I love the look of this lens. I tried it out on my favorite model. Here she is, first at full frame and then a couple cropped tightly.

Just delivered today a Zeiss Jena Contax rangefinder 1.5/50 Sonnar. It is supplementing the 2/50 Sonnar, 2.8/35 Biogon, 3.5/35 Planar, and 4/85 Triotar I am shooting on a Contax IIA. Next will be an 85mm Sonnar.

The 65:24 mode is great on the GFX, one of only a few cameras that have that. (Sigmas and the Panasonic S series) A bunch of 35mm lenses that vignette on the GFX will cover just fine in 65:24. The Nikon 24mm f2.8 works really well in 65:24 for example. When shooting 65:24 the RAF file will keep the crop when you import into LR but the raw will have the full image data so you can tweak framing (like a little shift) which can be handy.

They use the same back. I have an EC, the third time was a charm on that one. First bought an EC TL that turned out to be an EC that had a broken aperture actuator in the helicoid so it went back. Then an EC TL which locked the mirror up and was returned and then finally an EC.
