Shueido?
Good luck! I hope it ages better than my flat black M2 I got from them… I understood they repaint trashy Leicas. Mine had some kind of putty, then some white primer over some areas… I send it to DAG and he told me the camera was was missing a few parts here and there.
You know, must have been the kind of classic situation when you’re left off with “extra” screws and bits on your table after reassembling a project and you’re like “meh, they’ll never know”…
Shueido’s paint came off super easily, esoecially on the front where a whole square patch just scratched off. Luckily, it’s a M2, an undestructible camera, so I’m ok with the fact they tried to pass me a tired and well used camera.
Now about your M7, I’m sure it’s all good and that my experience was a part of a salvaging system regarding old Cameras. The M7 is a recent model which hasn’t been used much when compared with older Ms which were used as photojournalistic tools and hammers.
I could understand anyone wanting to simply turn their silver M7 a la carte to a Black version, instead.
Here’s my shueido in question
