What have you just BOUGHT?

...I got this generic hot shoe mounted, waist level viewfinder, for my Ricoh GRiii, off of Mssr. Bezos’ website. The entire field of view is 28mm, and there are frame lines for 35 and 50 … I usually have the Ricoh in the 35mm crop mode. It works quite well in bright light, it’s intended use case. It’s also nice getting a waist-level perspective, difficult to do otherwise from a camera with no tilting screen and lacking a VF.

This looks handy enough to be useful... I ordered one. 🙂
I'm not expecting Leica level quality and optics; if the view is clear enough in decent light, it will serve the purpose.

Canon QL rangefinder.

In beautiful condition. All shutter speeds sound right. Viewfinder is bright. Will get battery to check if meter works but have been using iPhone app anyways. Feels solid and heavier than it looks as it is a small camera.

what's the difference from the QL and the QL G III
I think the g iii is a later version with some improvements? Looks like the same lens and I suspect mechanically very similar…?

Edit: googled it - giii is smaller, battery info in viewfinder, improved rangefinder patch…

Yes, I contacted Leica parts and gave them my serial number. The parts manager contacted me a few days later to quote the cost and then setup the online invoice for payment. I bought two so I would have a spare.
many years ago, when I tryed to contact the Leica italian distributor, it send two of them free of charge....... I have been lucky

A PX625 battery adaptor plus half-a-dozen APX44 batteries, to get the meter on my Leica CL up and running again; and an AR-1 soft release for one of my Nikon F2s. I also found a Yashica 50mm f/1.4 ML sitting in the back of my camera cupboard so I ordered a Yashica FX-3 Super 2000 to put the lens back to work.

Oh yes, and also a handful of Agfa Rapid cassettes.

Ach. You make me want another SWC ...!
But I think I want a Curta calculator more. This frightens me. 😶

Now I had to look up what a "curta calculator" is.
. . . .
Interesting device!
Fully mechanical and battery-free 🙂
But when I see the prices they're asking for, I'd rather buy a second SWC.
Which I won't do, though, because I already have one.
Maybe a 15mm Voigtländer for my Nikon rangefinder?
Or a 200/2 for my Nikon F2?
I'm sure I'll come across something that will tempt me.
