Hi... I just ordered the CV 25/4 Skopar. TWO QUESTIONS:

- What's the filter size for this lens?

- How does one use a polarizing filter efficently with an RF camera?

Thanks, mike

I have the 21/4 which is physically the same as the 25mm. The lens takes a standard e39 filter. I am using a Leica 13352 polarizing filter on the lens-it fits perfectly. You just can't use the lens hood. Stu

Thanks Stu... but how do you know when the
polarizing filter is in just the right position to
darken the sky or minimize reflections? mike

The 13352 clamps onto your lens barrel and you swing the filter 180 degrees over your finder and dial in the correction you want, then swing the filter back in front of the lens.

Or you can use two polarizers, one on your lens and one in your hand. View the scene directly through this one, noting the position that gives you the effect you want, and set the polarizer on your lens to the same postion. If your polarizers aren't marked with degree points on the outside rings, use nail polish or paint on a fine brush to mark them, taking care that you put the same points in the same positions on your various polarizers. I have one which doesn't ever go on lenses, but is only used for viewing and checking position; the ones that go on lenses are carefully kept clean. It's slower, but much cheaper and simpler than the swing out Leica models.

Both methods above are good. Since I have an old
Nikon PF that's a bit scratched, I'll try the 2 filter
method, with pre-set markings. Thanks, mike

You could try the Kenko rangefinder polariser set
I've never used one personally but it looks simple enough

Essentially its a small polarizer that you mount in the hotshoe, and a filter you put on the lens
They have the same scale on the side so you can set them in tandem

They've got them on the robert white website, and I'm sure elsewhere

If anyone has used one - how effective are they
