Good stuff, congrats. Did they say you could get any Zeiss lens as a prize? If so I'd go for the 15/2.8

I think it was the second. To me it speaks more than the first or third images. It has more of a story and is more evocative. It's my favorite by far out of the others. You work has always been interesting and full of wonderful story.

Congratulations!! I'd go for the 15mm ZM, quite a sweet lens

Very nice snaps. I like 'em all but think the judge(s?) probably plumped for #2.
Let us know which one if they ever let it slip.

Congratulations! It is very nice of you to claim the prize in your capacity as a member of RFF!
Drinks all around!
The 21 fits your style and would fill a gap in your quiver of lenses if I remember correctly (coming down from 28).
I, however, would like to see what you do with an 85. Surely if you can get an 85/2, the choice is a no-brainer.

I am still a little split between the 18 and the 21, I like the 21 for its big aperture which is more my style to have on hand when I need it but I used to use my canon 17-40 lens a lot at 17 to shoot big close up shots that looked really neat. Also thinking that I will be using this lens on the Panasonic G1 when I get it. A 42mm f2.8 on the G1 would just be an added bonus though a 36 f4 is less interesting.
Sadly it says I cannot choose the 15mm 2.8 or 85mm f2 otherwise surly I would plop for the 15!!!
My quiver as you so eloquently put it is as follows: Zeiss 28mm f2.8, Zeiss 50mm f2, Voigtlander 35mm f2.5 PII, Leica 35mm f2 version 3, Leica 50mm f3.5 red scale. SO yes I have a nice plop of lenses right in the middle so I could use one extreme wide in there. I dont seem to remember how extreme the difference between 21 and 28 is though I remember the difference between 28 ad 25 is pretty big. Will have to break out the long forgotten soulless canon 17-40.
ps. I am told that it was the first image that won.

Congratulations Colin, very well deserved !!! I would say that the second image is the one chosen by Zeiss, but I guess that I'm wrong on that ;-)
As for the Wide Angle lens you're debating on, I would have gone for the 21mm !!!

Congrats! Do the wide lens that you get includes the external VF as well?

#3 has too much OOF area. #1, while it has a great mood, has too much dark area.
I disagree on both accounts. I don't think the exposure in #1 could be any better. Incredible capture in extremely difficult lighting (did you bracket it, Colin?).

On that shot I did not bracket, actually it was the last shot on the roll and I just snapped a quicky to get the roll over with, go figure huh? Exposure was set more for the middle dark areas which were most of the alley ways light.
Um....I doubt the lens will come with a finder....dang...
