2009 Carl Zeiss Photo contest and another RFFer has won it!

Congratulations Colin!

I'm so jealous! Not of your award of course but of that certain quality of the colors in your shots. They're great!

I agree, it should to be the 1st one but I really, really like the second one.

I suck at color and there is no way I could get those kind of colors out of Superia. Maybe it's the ZM lenses and/or my scanning skills.... Oh well, I'll stick to b&w :)

Ben.

Congrats on the win!!

All three are nice. I like #1 for the same reasons others have stated. However, I agree with #2 as the winner. #3 has too much OOF area. #1, while it has a great mood, has too much dark area. #2 is sharp, the old man is interesting and looking directly at the camera, and it has international appeal, or national if this was a China wide contest.

When will you know?

I'm not surprised...

I'm not surprised...

that you won first prize in the contest. These pictures are all winners, and anyone of them could have won. You do have the skills and a great eye to catalog what you see. Thanks for being on RFF.

Congratulations Colin, All three photos are excellent but I think the colors and composition of photo 2 out shine the other two. Again Congrats!

Congrats! I wish I had known about this contest in time, as the subject matter was right up my alley (pardon the pun).

Well done you! Superb photos by the way! Superia 200 is an underated film too, I've had some good results with it, not as good as yours though!

Again, well done!

Excellent images and all are worthy of a top three finish. I'm with the majority here and particularly like the first and second shots.

Really well done and congratulations on the win, fully deserved by a quality photographer.

Hope you are suitably chuffed Colin!

Makes me realise I need to keep an eye out for competitions too, free equipment is a great spur:)

I always been impressed by your photos... glad to see that you have won! Very nice work.
I personally like #2, but I think #1 has lighting and an atmosphere that really draw the viewer in and make it the winner. Looks like a photo that could of easily been exposed incorrectly, but you did a wonderful job.

Cheers!
Jason

Congratulations, well done ! All 3 are great shots, I would also choose #1. Let's us know which one they picked. I 'll check their website....

Well done Colin, excellent and well deserved.

My favourite is number 2, thogh the pthers are also geat pics.

As for the lens - I'd take a ZM 21 2.8 in a shot (no pun intended)

Mike
