Question: Does the 35f2 lens have a DOF scale? Does the 35f1.4?

Frank, neither one even has *distances* marked on the lens.
That info can be set up in the viewfinder, however.

Between my wife and I we have the 35/1.4 and the 27. On the street I tend to alternate between the 18 and 35. While the 27 fits right between them, I don't find myself reaching for it. As another pointed out, I also find the 27 on the sterile side. While the 18 and 35 can deliver "ah!" moments. Sharp it is, if you want sharp for street.

I sold my 35/1.4 XF and purchased the 35/2.
The rendering is similar (except for maximum subject isolation) while the 35/2 is smaller, and has faster, quieter AF. The focus collar response is also improved. Since the X-T1 can take full advantage of the focusing improvements, this was a straightforward decision for me. At the same time it did seem a bit superfluous given how well the 35/1.4 performs.

superfluous is the word alright...i used to love a 40mm fov but lately not so much...not sure what changed...thinking a 50 fov might be better with my 23 and 56 fuji lenses...
i'd end up with 16/23/35/56 and maybe the 90 next year sometime...

Off topic but please see my WTT ad for a 27mm lens.

I now have both XF 35mm lenses and I've owned the 27mm a couple of times in the past. The new 35 is significantly faster to autofocus and its focusing mechanism is essentially noiseless... much quieter than the 35/1.4 and WAY quieter than the 27.

i've owned the 27 a few times and always end up selling it...that might be a clue!
a 35 might be good for me as it's not a focal length i usually have...might be nice for a change...i'm slowly talking myself into it...

Joe, I sold my 27 both times I owned it because the focusing noise and focus 'hunting' bugged me all the time. The older 35 has these same problems but to a lesser extent. The new 35 has none of these problems. For me, pairing the 35/2 with the 18/2, 18-55, or the 16/1.4 would suffice as a nice walk-around/travel kit.

i can easily fit 2 bodies and 3 lenses into my f6 and the weight is fine…i'm think 16/35/56 to start with…
i read somewhere that the new hood for the 16 also fits the 35…curious to try that.

I'll be using a similar lens combo when my Fuji 35/2 arrives: 15 (voigtlander 15 v.3), fuji 35/2, and 60/2.6 macro. Effectively a 21, 50, 90 For my E1/E2 kit.

The 35/2 is mated to my new to me X-T1. I am obessesed with weather proofing - check.
Love the focusing prowess on the 35 - check. Love the size - check. What's not to like?

I'd suggest anyone interested in the new 35 head over to Tomem's Fuji archive and read every review of the lens. For the most part, these reviews are done by people who use cameras to take pictures, rather than to sell cameras via links.
I was very ready to swap my 35/1.4 for the f2 lens. Even had my eBay listing for the 35/1.4 saved as a draft. After the reviews, including looking at some OOC raws run through C1 at default, I decided to stick with what I already own.
Absolutely nothing wrong with the lens. Certainly WR and better build quality. Same size and weight unless a half an ounce makes a difference. On my XT1, same AF speed. Improved center and edge sharpness below f4, then the f1.4 starts to take the lead. But the reason I decided to hold onto what I have are the renders I was looking at. The new lens appears to get a bit heavy handed with contrast in lower light. I also saw some comparisons where highlights on OOC shots were handled much better with the f1.4.
For me, too early to decide to buy. Will wait until enough get in photographers' hands to get a better idea.
