i normally "see" straight 28mm, but found the 35mm on my Epson (53mm) a very nice complement. i just picked up a v.1 Cron with 8 elements and think it will be my new favourite lens. absolutely gorgeous!

Rayt: You said exactly how I feel about 35mm lenses. If they are good, I'm on it. Btw, if you like good 35mm lenses, the Minolta 35/1.8 and the Konica 35/2 is *awesome*, they are rather uncommon, I got them patience and observation, not wealth, which makes them more special

yes, sorry for not clarifying. it's the version 1 35mm Summicron and it's got an absolutely gorgeous character to it. i'm seriously thinking i need to look out for a good film camera to go with it

A robber tried to steal my camera bag in Portugal last summer. I was just finishing organizing the contents of the bag when it happened so it wasn't completely closed. In our struggle, my MP with Ultron attached fell out of the bag and onto the ground. The lens took the full impact but luckily the Luigi half-case saved the body from any damage. Not a single scratch or dent on the MP and the RF still focused accurately. The robber faired a lot worse than the Ultron.

It's a matter of taste, folks. Me, I used 50 mm lenses forever, switching between 50 and 28 mm all the time. After I got my first 35 mm, it stayed on the camera 90% of the time...
So, I do like both 35 and 50 mm as standard focal lengths, but if I had to pick, it'd always be the 35...

I used only 50's for a while. With my recent acquisition of a Canon 35mm f1.5 LTM (which I use on a zorki) and a Konica Hexar AF, I've used nothing but 35's for 2 months.

35... I've fallen in love with it.

Twenty-five years ago, my first 35 Summilux was stolen in India.
I immediately bought another. I'm still using it -- on an MP and an M8.
Today, I probably take 80% of my film shots and 70% of my M8 shots with that lens.

. I have a lot of 35s, in LTM, Contax and Nikon mounts. On vacation last spring in China, the 35/2.8 Biometar and Orthometar were always attached to the Contax IIa, except for a couple of dozen shots from the Great Wall at Badaling, which were taken with the 21/4.5 Biogon. Counting all mounts, I have eleven 35mm lenses. I almost never use 50s, the 35 being my "normal" lens.

Xmm, I'm still on my learning curve with my 35mm ASPH, unerstand the usefulness of the FL, but haven't yet got the natural feeling shooting with one.
Once figured it's indeed prefered over 50mm in crowded situations, but other then that still pick my 50mm for general allaround use.
I guess I need more practice with 35mm to get the itch for one...

Well, I used to have Ultron 35 and it's a great lens - IMO it draws FAR better than anything I have seen from Nokton 35/1.4. So, I'd advise to keep it.

Really? I'd better examine more samples then. In general, the Ultron 35/1.7 is as good as it gets for my usage.
