I bought a Canon 50mm 1.8, which uses a 40mm filter size. It seems that there is no 40mm size available today. At least B+W does not have it.
Does anybody use this lens? What filter do you use?

B+W do make 40mm filters but not many dealers stock them. You can try and get hold of the Canon ones but not easy. There will be some 40mm Canon and B+W filters in the classifieds very soon. 😉

Or use Series VI filters IF you can find the 40mm filter ring that Canon made in the 1950s.

NEW Series VI filter may be hard to find but used camera stores usually have them by the dozens at $1 or so each.

My advice is to get a B+W or Heliopan BRASS 40 to 49 step-up ring. There are many more 49 filters/ hoods available. Brass is a lot better than Aluminum-no galling/ stuck rings.

It will say inside the front ring of the lens. Does it look like this one?

Thanks🙂. Does not have Serenar written. It is like the one in the photo: Silver with the ring with the letters in black. But is says: Canon Lens 50mm f:1.8
