Hi,
Can anyone suggest makes of 50mm brightline finder I should look out for?
It is to go on my fed, leica II & III.
I wear glasses & struggle to see through the viewfinder.

I'm pretty sure Leitz made some. 
I have the SBOOI & it works fine. If you're not hung up on historical accuracy, a new/used Cosina Voigtlander viewfinder would work just as well, if not better (more modern glass) & probably not scratch your eyeglasses as much.

There is (was?) a Leitz one for sale in the RFF classifieds for a great price. I have a CV one that is great too.

I haven't used the CV one, but the Leica SBOOI is FANTASTIC! 1:1 magnification and very bright! I like being able to keep both eyes open while shooting. And just enough eye-relief for me to use while wearing glasses.

If you're wearing glasses, then you should definately not get the CV 1:1 sight unseen. It's a gorgeous finder in its own right. However, eye relief is sort of zero.. I don't wear glasses but still have to put the eye very close to the finder; rest my thumb just near the finder and place my cheeckbone against it. That close..

I have used habitually my hand made finder.
It is well appropriated by the used (junk) compact camera. Any plastic cameras may easy to take apart. My manner is usually to make a box by paper or polystyrene, and then reassemble the lens element taken out.
For 50mm adjusted finder may be scarce, then you should remake a blight line (u-m not blight?) by thread and so on. It is not hard to make finder by new lens elements which is obtained as experimental supply.

I've also got the CV one, and it's really a pleasure to use... Unfortunately it doesn't fit my Zorki-1 (for which i bought it in the first place :bang: )
As has been said before - not the greatest finder for glasses-wearers.

I am interested in Chair-Man-san's ease of making a finder from surplus optics supply.
Can you please discuss this more and/or provide any images.
Perhaps with some knowledge it might be easier.
