75mm f/1.4 Summilux Photos

rsolti - nice photos. One question though - there are lots and lots of green edges in many of the bokeh highlights. Is it the lens or are they digital artefacts? I have seen similar "effects" from my 5D2 (which was one of the reasons I went back to film actually).

philipus - I'm pretty sure it's the 75 Summilux in this case. I seem to remember seeing it in some of my film shots with this lens. I just don't think it's fully corrected for chromatic aberrations.

Philip thanks...as Tim mentioned, yes, it is the lens. You will see this happen in film as well. If you want a more perfectly corrected lens your choice should be the 75 Cron. That is a true APO lens and should not exhibit the chromatic aberrations such as 75 Lux. As they say, beauty is in the eye of the beholder :).

I will say, I have also in the past used the pre-ASPH 50 Lux and the 75 Lux seems to be far better corrected. Not APO quality, but somewhere in between

a few more 75 Lux

Ok I see. I don't use 75mm because I have a 90 and never saw the need. This thread is has the potential to change my mind :)

I really like the first image of the three you posted.

I have a 50 Lux LTM which I'm quite happy with. I will have to shoot a comparison with my 50 asph.

The 75 is not an easy diva to deal with, but who doesn't love her, when all pieces fit ?

From the Shanghai F1 GP (most shots pin track, I did with D3 and 300 VR + TCs, but I loved the Leicas around the track):

You really do magic with that lens...

Thanks BB and rsolti - I like that portrait, knowing, how difficult it is, to really nail it with the 75 Lux.

Here are a few shots from a day in my hometown in Germany: Leipzig, a city, one can only love!

nice shots Dirk. Didn't know you were shooting a 75 Lux these days. It's gotta be one of the best lenses I own, even though I don't shoot it as much as I should.

Thanks Jordan!
I have the 75 Summilux for some time now, but only got around using it more a week ago.
I try, to have it in the bag, whenever possible now - difficult to nail focus wide open, but a magical lens all around!

Fantastic series!

Thank you! I really enjoyed the few hours, I had, shooting candid portraits in my hometown.
I plan, to do this now more seriously, everywhere, I go - have to get a hold of the Summilux 75 though - a really tough lens, to use wide open and close up.
