Sorry for this little rant, but I have been dreaaaming of a leica for years. I've even posted a "dreaming of leica" thread on one of those days when i just thought " if i die without one - I'll be very very unhappy". Well after posting that thread a lot of people said that the only thing that cures a bad case of Leica GAS is ... Leica ownership. I thought about it and realized ... you are absolutely right! I must have one, otherwise I will never know what it is like, and will be suffering for years to come.

So on Saturday I went to a very nice used-photo-goodies-store and leica dealer in Hamburg (where I've been drooling many many times before). And asked to have a look at their M2 with an Elmar 50mm/2.8. Played with it a little, asked some questions, learned how to load it, and .......... I bought it!!! (I also got a free hood, a strap, a roll of film and 1 year warranty)

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀

Ran around Hamburg a little, with my two beauties (my wife and M2). And I was absolutely happy! The sound of the shutter is wonderful, the camera feels great in the hands, the focus is smooth and the whole time I couldnt believe I actually had a Leica. I think the photos I took yesterday will come out absolutely terrible, because who cares about the composition? I didnt think about that 😉

and here she is, folks, aint she pretty? (rhetorical question -- you dont have to answer) 🙂

that is a very pretty Leica, Lubitel. Congratulations on the decision. I hope to do the same in coming months.

Now, let's see some pictures from this thing.

Good for you, for sure. I've always loved the M2 (prehaps because it is the only Leica that I've owned). But, why isn't the hood securely mounted on your lens?

And ranting about a new camera or lens or other tool of photography is never something that requires any apology. RFF exists for the love of the rangefinder AND rangefinder photography.

Lubitel, it is a beautiful camera and it looks especially nice with the collapsible lens. You'll enjoy it for a long time. Post pictures soon.

Stunning purchase! Good for you! What lens do you plan to purchase next? You can't own just one. Nope. That's against the rules!😉 😀

Very nice camera and lens. I own an M2 and an M6. My favorite camera to shoot with is the M2. I am certain you will have many haapy years with this camera.

Best Regards,

Bob

Lubitel - congratulations on purchasing an excellent camera. A big decision - not to be rushed! I know you'll enjoy it and the photos it will help you to create.

Congratulations!! I can feel how you must feel! She's B-U-T-ful. Now beware of what'll be next.... the devil in disguise... lust for more!!

Beautiful camera. Congratulation on buying your first Leica - the best rangefinder camera brand there is.
