A little dream come true.

Thanks for your encouraging responces. Downhill from here? I thought I just reached it? I dont need anymore lenses - I'll be very happy with the elmar... well, I will definitely need a summicron at some point, and a few LTM-M adapters to use my jupiters and I might need one of those Luigi cases 🙂

BTW, this is the link to the store http://www.photohaus.de/
very nice knowledgeable people work there.

Will post some pics as soon as I have them 😉

Very nice camera and lens. I own an M2 and an M6. My favorite camera to shoot with is the M2.
I too have other Leicas, and my favorite is the M2, with which I normally use a 50mm Elmar (an elegant lens for an elegant camera). Have fun with your wonderful new equipment.

i can hardly imagine a more classic pair, your m2 and an elmar. well done lubitel! a deserved purchase. and now for the best part - using it. how many things in our lives are beautiful to regard and to use?

Nice camera...It looks to be in extremely nice condition. Can any one cluse me in on adding a quick load kit to my M2? i.e., how it works, installation, the going price....

Lubitel, it's gorgeous! 🙂 I'm not really up on Leica historical variations, but I wonder if yours is a bit uncommon in being an early button-rewind model with self-timer. And it appears to be in very excellent condition!

I've had the quick load kit in my M2 so long I've pretty much forgotten how/where I got it, how much it was, and how it got installed. It seems to comprise only two parts; a film take-up spool with retracting "handle" which is possibly the same as used in later M models. And a film guide that attaches to the interior of the baseplate that seem intended to push the film up in line with the drive sprockets.

Mine's been in place in my M2 since about 1968. I don't know how long Leica had these for sale or how easy they are to find now. Some people don't like the quick load, saying it's more trouble than it's worth. I dunno; I think it makes loading easier, less likely to screw up. But then it's been a lonnngg time since I used the camera without it! Sorry I couldn't be of more help, Steve.

I have no idea dougg 🙂

the camera seems to be in excellent condition with a bunch of minor scratches on the top plate. But the lens has a round "haze" on the front element - I will have to see how the pictures come out. The lady at the store said I can bring it back if I am not satisfied with the results. Tomorrow I will get my first test roll back 😀
