I just checked the Wiki page and to my chagrin I certainly should know who this bloke is. And I see what you mean about the resemblance:

Same here. Age ten, in a boom truck. Little later, a '64 Dynamic 88. Just not the part about helping mother during rainy seasons. Or, for that matter, anything else in the bio....

Have always used 6x7 backs and thought I preferred them. After buying a simple Zeiss 6x9 folder, I have been rethinking that but not seriously enough invest in 6x9 backs when I have 6 6x7 backs.

The chiropractic maintenance on all those backs must be extraordinary. And you must burn a lot of film!

I was thinking about this and wondering a few things, like whether many of the viewers here will be interested in my usual sort of thing, because most of it is of decidedly low production values. My regular gig normally required so much precision that when I wanted to do my own stuff I went about it pretty intentionally sloppily. Now I'll be experimenting on how to be sloppy in medium format.

Also, I've got to figure out a workflow for web presentation, because I don't have a film scanner yet. I'll probably end up flatbed scanning 8x10 work prints made on VC-RC paper. That way I'll have an artifact as well as a high-res stream. Does anybody else here practice that?

Not only the backs but the lenses as well; the 50mm and the 250 f/5 require a trucking firm to carry around. 😀

Some 4 or 5 years ago I got an unrelated back problem. It kicked me into MF folders to avoid the weight. I have mostly recovered but haven't used the Press 23 much since then. I am hoping to get more back into using it soon. It is a find system camera.
