Beware of Claws
This reminds me of a sunny day at the Pt. Reyes lighthouse, everything was great, until the leather strap on my binoculars gave way and they crashed on the cement. They had sentimental value since I got them at the Two Guys department store in Neptune, NJ that was walking distance from my grandparents' house. They weighed a ton too, but couldn't stand up to the concrete. I replaced them with a leightweight pair of Bausch and Lomb, good quality but no personal history for me. Two Guys had a camera dept. where I used to gaze in wonder at the Minox spy cameras and other gear as a kid... since then I swore to periodically check my straps... as I'm sure you will too, now, Joe...
