Al Kaplan has passed away :(

Condolences!
I always read Al's contributions to a thread with double the attention, because i cared for his opinions very much. He wil be missed!

Al was a one of a kind. Lunch at a cheap Indian Restaurant this last summer:

Oh my. We are less now than we were before. Al will be missed here so very much. To all that knew him irl, my condolences. I didn't, yet I mourn his loss greatly.

Maybe I shall find someone else to tell me, every morning and every night, that he's already drunk more coffee and smoked more bidis than me. I don't know, though, if I shall find anyone with whom to discuss everything on Earth. Joker didn't even say goodbye, damn him.

I'm relatively recent here but I've enjoyed reading Al posts and his vast knowledge and humanity...

May he rest in peace.

I'm sorry to hear this. He was a nice guy. Anyone that gets themselves banned from photo.net was an asset to the community.

James,

I posted one of the photos you took of Al, that Al gave me to makes some prints from, on another forum Al visited from time to time. It seems to be one taken the same day the photo you posted was taken.

It looks like Al found a good home on RFF with many fine friends after leaving Photo.net.

Al lived alone, except for Monkey and Monkette, and his friends here and on some other forums were his internet family.

God bless and keep you Al.

Huh. This is truly shocking news. Since the news of his hospitalization, I'd been sort of assuming he'd recover and be back in action soon. I only knew him from his online presence, but it's a sad day.

Rest easy, Al.
