Al Kaplan has passed away :(

I'm very sad to hear of this. Al Kaplan was largely responsible for my love and passion in rangefinders. Here's wishing you plenty of Tri-X where ever you are, Al.

Ave atque Vale

Ave atque Vale

Al will be missed for many reasons, by people in many different places. I am posting this from upstate NY. A moment of silence for Al, and sincere condolences to his family and friends.

I always like his friendly comments and his deep know-how.

The RF world is poorer without him.

May he rest in peace.

I just skimmed the thread and didn't see it... does anyone have a link to the formal obit?

A great loss...

I am shocked and saddened to learn of Al's passing.

With a heavy heart I will toast his life and memory now.

All my warm wishes to his family.

His blog brought many memories of my life here in South Florida as a much younger man. He will be missed as well as his blog.

He will live on here at RFF and in my heart.

God speed.

Terrible news indeed. What a shame, as he seemed to getting over his heart attack slowly.
Al's memory will continue for all of us silver snappers. What a great contributor. Such a sad loss for his family.

RIP

My condolences and sincere thoughts to the family. I ha\/e been away for two weeks (my \/ key is broken ... sorry) -- he sure left an impression on me. May he rest in peace x x

What tragic news! Al was a worthy contributor to the RFf - always good for a laugh, but also for a wealth of information.
Our heartfelt condoleances goes out to his family and friends. He will be missed.
I also suspect that Al has already organized a small group around him - ashtray close by and a drink in hand - and is entertaining everybody in his inimitable way.
Al, Rest in Peace - though not too much of the latter as it would not be you!
Tom and Tuulikki Abrahamsson.
