Great photos Lynn, and a great thread. Slide film has such amazing depth. I spent 2 years travelling Europe in the early 1990s and shot exclusively slide film with my trusty Nikon F801. It's about time I digitised those photos!

My kids laugh at me, I can get sick standing on a dock.
Your photos are making me think I need to plan a trip to the canyon next year before I'm too old to enjoy the trip.
Somewhere I have an image of me with my siblings standing in front of some sign somewhere along the canyon edge. I digitized it but need to look for the file. It was taken in the late '50's early '60's when we moved out to California from NJ.

In early May 1979 I drove from New Mexico to the GC (west to Tucson and Phoenix, then north to Flagstaff, where we stayed overnight. Two days at the Canyon, then back to NM via Albuquerque. So much, in fact too much driving, but well worth it. The GC is one of those must see in a lifetime places.
So the OP and I were at the Grand Canyon at about the same time. By a small stretch of my imagination, it's possible we were at the same place on the same day, and our paths may even have crossed, tho' we would never have known it. One of those "the world is such a small place" moments.Unlike you, I didn't stay overnight in the canyon. A day trek down and up again sufficed. This I now regret, but such is life.
I had a Nikkormat FTN and three Nikkkor lenses, and I recall I took three rolls of Kodachrome 25. Looking at #187, I realised I stood at almost the same place as the OP did, for my image of the watch tower.
I missed that beaut old Ford Sri-Motor in your #187. How I wish I had known about it at the time...
Oddly, everything I took that day was slightly overexposed. Very disappointing. I was big on slides back then and I enjoyed inflicting many presentations for my (long-suffering) friends. My old Reflecta projector passed away long ago, but I'm sure I still have the slides somewhere at home, most likely in a (one of too many) storage carton. I now want to find them and get out my Plustek and scan them all.
How amazing for me to be reliving my North American journey of 44 years ago, through someone else's eyes - and images.

Although the slides are in overall great condition, I have some difficulty getting the scanned images' colour balance right in post. The originals have a slight magenta/blue cast. I've done the best I can. I think I may have adjusted this too far towards green.

The interior of the LA Bonaventure hotel impressed me with its futuristic design.
I love this image, I showed this thread to my wife and she immediately provided me a link to the hotel which occupies the building. You can see the water feature is still present in many of the images. That building must have been brand new when you visited it, I believe it was built in 1978.
