And then I bought an RD-1s ???

Welcome to the club Keith.
Was following the add, and I was not surprised at all to see it sold so rapidly.

Some great images being posted in this thread ... I'm seriously impressed! :)

(it's on it's way from NZ and I have the tracking info) :)

I don't know the condition of the camera but in Japan second-hand mint ones still start at USD 1,600. My favorite camera in terms of use and picture quality.

in japan the used ones start at around 1000-1100 (For an R-D1, D1s's a little more)..most of them have no noticeable damage or wear at that price

to the OP the RD-1's sensor is sensitive to IR so if you want perfect blacks all the time get yourself some IR blocking filters. it's not as strong as the M8 but it is there - personally I like it as I like shooting IR shots but it can show up in other cases too. (like below, though it is still an OK pic)

Why does the sensor in the Epson produce such good colour ... supposedly it was very similar to the D70 but I had one of those and it never looked like what we're seeing here?

Lookin back through this thread at the black and white conversions and the colour postings, I really can't wait to get the camera! :)

Im also curious and meant to ask before ... how much of the viewfinder does the 35mm f1.2 Nokton block? Because I suspect that's the lens I'll be using quite a lot. It's had zero use since I sold my M8!

CONGRATS Keith...Its a Great Digi for sure
I always preferred the RD1/s over the M8
here is a shot with the 50 Lux pre asph..

Your style of photography stays with the image no matter what camera you use Helen!!!!

I like that! :) The Sonnar should be very good for portraits as Joe said!
