Any tips to DIY CLA of a SOOKY?

Managed to get my filthy hands on a SOOKY to accompany my Cron. But it rotates stiff and it's fighting against me.

I tried to lubricate the exposed bits of the helicoid, and give it a thorough massage but with no real improvement.

So I'm thinking a DIY CLA should be in order (can't be that difficult can it?). So if anyone has any pointers they'd like to share with me, I'd be very grateful.

If you can remove the glass soak it in Xylene for a week then clean the exposed part of the helicoid with a toothpick. Then using a good moly grease lube the helicoid and turn it in both directions to work the grease into the rest of the helicoid..

Don't use white lith grease because it bleeds too much..

Brilliant. Thanks, unscrewed the glass (the spanner tip slipped and the scratched the brass ring 🙁
Dropped in a vat of n-heptane. A bit to inflammable to let it sit for an entire week, so will let it soak overnight and check.

3 hrs later, cleaned, lubricated and smooth SOOKY. It's the smoothest helicoid of everything in my arsenal.
