New York Anybody in NYC??

Hey all I always used to check this NYC section and it was always empty. Glad to see others. I'm from Staten Island, but work in Midtown.

Just checking in here to see what's up. Thought I was the only Staten Islander. I was doing a reverse commute for years and finally talked my wife into venturing into the wilderness here. We're on a lovely street in Stapleton that's filled with artists, photographers, and even a gallery!

Hi everybody, I work in midtown and live in Astoria.

How about this for a meetup...

Meet at the Union Square right after work, say 5:30.

Get the outdoor seats at Heartland Brewery, have some beers, swap a print or two, take pictures of the gawkers and stumble home. Union Square is pretty good since there are a bunch of Photo stores, Most train lines stop around there is always something going on there.

Any takers?

Any takers?: I take it

Perfect place for me.
when are we doing this?

count me in, too

I live in Manhattan - and shoot with an M8 and elmarit 28mm/2.8. I'd like to shoot with people with the same camera. I'd like to share prints for critiques. (I don't print and realize I should, and this would be a good reason to print)

I'll put a date here and see if anyone answers: May 23 (wednesday) 6pm.

Susan: Assorted work projects swallowed up my plans to find a meeting place for a bunch of us here (and I'm under the weather today...ugh), but I'm going to see, one more time, if I can manage something at Tea Lounge (the bigger one on Union Street) here in Park Slope (yep, Brooklyn), unless someone else here has a nicer idea/venue.

The 23rd will be tough, though (tickets in hand for a concert at Carnegie/Zaknel Hall that night), but the day before or after is good for me, and, being that we seem to be trying for a weekday meet-up, likely less crowded at whatever venue people can agree on.

Susan, Barrett, all -- I'll keep a watch on this thread. Brooklyn is much easier to get to than downtown for those of us who have joined the bridge-and-tunnel crowd. (Actually I guess I left that crowd when I moved to Staten Island and got out of my reverse commute.)

Barrett, do feel better. There seem to be a lot of viruses swirling around the area. (My wife has one today; we'll see how long it takes me to catch it.)

Michael: Thanks. Didn't know about the virus stuff. My issue today is exhaustion: I had a day/night with bit too much drama two days ago, which sort of caught up with me (I'll save the story till we all meet up). I have a photo shoot Monday night, and I want to be in shape for that, so the weekend is going to be really, really light. :)

this thurs afternoon (5/18) or next wk evenings?

(This discussion is getting hard to read - scatterred)

Wednesday 5/22 or Thursday 5/23 if we're talking about after five. I live in Washington Heights (A train) and I'm happy to shlep a bit, but if it's evening I'd like to keep the subway ride under an hour.

Aaron - How about this Thursday May 18 after noon? I'm sending you an email. And of course if anyone else can make it Thursday - let's set up something. Harlem? Way East Village ? Lower East Side?

How about the Algonquin Hotel, the round table, around 7:30pm, February 15, 1928?

Bring your Tardis.

Dang, the Tardis is in the shop -- darned Lucas electrics!! ;)

I'm still game. Perhaps we should just have a social gathering first some night after work in midtown somewhere?

I'll suggest The Heartland Brewery in Times Square (43rd East of Broadway) as a place large enough to accommodate a group.

Question is when??

Evenings? Weekends??
