looking for someone in madison to play host for the weekend of july 4 --- am taking the amtrak from memphis to chicago, and the bus route the rest of the way -- just need a floor to crash on and someone to drive me around and show me the cool stuff for a wisconsin themed magazine --

yeah keith - i'm working the cvb and websites now --- it'll be fun --- might have to stay at the "youth" hostel - --

amtrak allows 2 carryons -- one for camera, one for supplies/clothing

am toting mostly digital for the commercial work, film for my stuff -- am starting the networking process, just bought my ticket --- and have approval from amtrak marketing for camera use on train

it'll be an adventure regardless

this trip is really making me evaluate what gear i lug across the country --- at this point, 1 film camera, a digilux 2, a dlux 4, and a nikon dslr with 1 extra lens ---- there's still more that keeps wanting to jump into my bag

so far, kindle, ipod, pocket knife, a few chargers, notepad, pens, no computer, ir converted small p&s, i think i'm gonna leave the r5 and the iid behind -- seems too much a bother to fool with the trimming the film lead on the iid for travel, the r5 would be the perfect only camera - but this is an assignment -- digital makes it cheaper for me - carrying the hexar af - leaving the graflex and nikon f4 kits at home- --

anybody have any other suggestions for a cross country amtrak travel ...

have started the packing process ---- have a minimal gear carrying
looking to hook up with any locals for an hour or two of urbex, beers, and such --- looking to do a little off the beaten path and some of the normal touristy stuff- --
