I might be planning a short trip and need to make some arrangements

Writing an article for a wi magazine
 
looking for someone in madison to play host for the weekend of july 4 --- am taking the amtrak from memphis to chicago, and the bus route the rest of the way -- just need a floor to crash on and someone to drive me around and show me the cool stuff for a wisconsin themed magazine --
 
still looking for a forum member in madison wi --- have purchased my tickets --- are there any fireworks displays planned for the 4th? any places i should go? need 411 on madison
 
yeah keith - i'm working the cvb and websites now --- it'll be fun --- might have to stay at the "youth" hostel - --

amtrak allows 2 carryons -- one for camera, one for supplies/clothing
 
am toting mostly digital for the commercial work, film for my stuff -- am starting the networking process, just bought my ticket --- and have approval from amtrak marketing for camera use on train

it'll be an adventure regardless
 
this trip is really making me evaluate what gear i lug across the country --- at this point, 1 film camera, a digilux 2, a dlux 4, and a nikon dslr with 1 extra lens ---- there's still more that keeps wanting to jump into my bag

so far, kindle, ipod, pocket knife, a few chargers, notepad, pens, no computer, ir converted small p&s, i think i'm gonna leave the r5 and the iid behind -- seems too much a bother to fool with the trimming the film lead on the iid for travel, the r5 would be the perfect only camera - but this is an assignment -- digital makes it cheaper for me - carrying the hexar af - leaving the graflex and nikon f4 kits at home- --

anybody have any other suggestions for a cross country amtrak travel ...
 
allright --- if you're in madison, drop me a line -- am working on the food / food cart list, the places to go.... am excited...

have started the packing process ---- have a minimal gear carrying
looking to hook up with any locals for an hour or two of urbex, beers, and such --- looking to do a little off the beaten path and some of the normal touristy stuff- --

hope to see a forum member or two

Anything I should be aware of for amtrak travel?

Anyone know anything about the youth hostel in Madison?

Trip is getting closer. Still looking for a few contacts
 
Will be in Chicago between 9a and 1030a on July 4 and 645p and 8p on the 6th ~ bring bacon and goodies ~ will be at the Amtrak station
